The clouds parted a little latter but not in that part of the sky...so played the new guitar with the looper for hours..sounded like there were ten guitar players in the van..it keeps going even when I stop..this looper is so helpful cause you put down just say one chord continuous and experiment with coming up with different licks...then do a full 12 bars blues shuffle, add a base oriented fill, then a slash rythem stroke here and there and then the best licks you figered out earlier..key is less is more..short three note licks seem to work well...I surprised myself...anyways it took my mind off missing out on the conjunction...I am just now looking around to see what other folk captured...at least that is something.

The rain is getting a little tiresome .. I nearly bought a ride on mower yesterday but thought to put it off until after Xmas cause the ground is boggy...but it's gone from bare ground to long grass..not good because it gives snakes cover to get to my van...I don't like black snakes or brown snakes ( snake racism?)..they are ok except when breeding time but it's so easy to step on one with long grass and for me it would be fatal.

Got the earth mover guy back..well he came begging for work as because of the rain his other machine is stuck and he was not going to have any money for Xmas.. what do you do..so I found some things to give him a days work and that will see him have a decent Xmas...you don't realise how tuff it is for folk like him..he has so much work lined up but just can't do any...so no cash flow..I am getting him to repair the drive and bring my little boat down from the top house and also a water tank..you can bet when I set up the tank to gather water that the rain will stop.

Had him clear some dirt for a pad for a garden shed...he is such a decent young man I felt driven to help out even though I had other plans for that cash.

But folk are good to me..like the gift of the caravan ..that has to be five grand value and the microscope say fifteen hundred so I see it as a give and take thing.

So capturing the conjunction is not everything.

    Edit addition.
I have been looking at my planetarium and it seems there will be lesser but interesting photo opportunities for a while but there will be more Moon ..anyways a photo of them close together would make me happy.

Don't get caught up in the earthquakes and floods which occur when planets line up

We are on the brink of flood here..well around us I am high.....however today besides having the earth mover scrape out an area for my garden shed, which will house a new electrical system...was given 8 solar panels so getting a decent set up so I can run a fridge..the last ones I got were not sufficient...and have some things city folk call normal...anyways in addition he brought down my little boat not that it will flood here but a,though I can't go out like I once did I can still float in the dam and "be on the water".... but the main thing is he bought down my water tank..also I gift..I mean I bought it gave it away and they are giving it back...so you can bet as soon as I set it up to catch water the rain will stop... I wonder..if you boil dam water is it ok ? I mean I have found out by virtue of my new interest in biology that a Tardigrade can survive boiling and I was only looking at one the other day..incredible little creature and really cute? Plus if you had no food could you eat grass if you cooked it?
I feel these are the bigger questions that need to be addressed.

Have the water tested, Alex. The place we purchased several years ago has a well dug, so we had the water tested and found it very, very high in iron content. They actually considered the water NOT potable. We don't drink the water but instead use it for a duck pond.

That's awesome, I use a Trio Plus Band Creator that creates a bass and drum track along with what you play.

    Thanks my friend.
Once the car broke down 20 klms into the Bush where no ever goes, we had to walk out and had forgot the water bottles, the only time..the time you need them...anyways a long walk and after a while literally dieing of thirst we needed water...many miles passed and we came on a muddy puddle on the road with honey bees all around it drinking...would you risk a sting to drink muddy water..we did and it was the best water I truly have had in my life...
I had four shot guns in the car and two rifles which you could not leave, the chance of someone taking them was remote but to do the right thing we carried them out, three of us, so when we turned up at my neighbours house with guns and rifles hanging off our shoulders he was a bit shocked..by this time is was dark and we looked bad.
The earth mover cleared in front of the dam so I have a nice picnic area now.

I was trying to look up which way the planets revolve across the sky, but the Google answers seemed not to answer my question. When they said they go the same direction as the sun rotates, I was thinking now that's real useful, how many backyard stargazers are going to get out a telescope with suitable sun filtering and focus it on the sun to see which way the sunspots move, and then add or subtract the earth's revolution.

Well the reason as some have guessed is the conjunction of the two gas giants nearest to Earth. Jupiter laps Saturn in orbit, but when I looked at Jupiter and thought I saw the faint looking Saturn to the right and slightly down, I was wondering will Jupiter move eastward across the sky in relation to Saturn during this conjunction? That's all I wanted to say about it.

The planets orbit the sun in the same direction as the Earth rotates.
From above Earth's North Pole, Earth rotates counter-clockwise.
From that same vantage point, the planets revolve around the Sun counter-clockwise.

The revolution of the outer planets about the Sun will cause them to appear a little later in our sky reach night.

As for what Saturn and Jupiter do in relation to each other, it should be apparent from this commonly-posted graphic:

I once owned a four track (magnetic tape) had a drum machine, and a bass ...it was so much fun.. lay down a bass and drum track, overlay your rythem guitar then do an improvised lead... It is surprising how sometimes something pops out that ain't too bad..I like improvising as opposed to learning someone elses song..funny thing I would play with a mate in beer gardens to drink for free..I would improvise something and someone would say that's great what song is it...now don't make my mistake..I would say..oh I just made it up as we went along...their face drops every time.. in the end I would say some guy back in the fifties but it did not become a popular well known song..they liked that. I would practice with my brother is laws band, never played on stage with them, but in all those years never learnt any song they played but would just add a fill lead or some rythem...I play by ear mostly..I can read music as I learnt in a brass band as a kid.
    Those were the days...

Just found out why I picked this guitar up cheap..it would go out of tune after a while, did not worry me you can expect such with cheap guitars... what I found was probably why it was sold..the nut is not glued in place and as the head is off to one side the nut moves just a little and tuning drops you return and the tension on low E brings it back and off you go again...so first I will try some super glue and if that is not sufficient literally screw the nut in place with some tiny screws..but it is a great guitar..I think a Japanese guitar probably made around that time when Japenese guitars were considered crap but in fact they were making some very good ones...I am starting to think it is at least as good as my Gibson.

Sadly, I aint got a musical note in my body, and was thrown out of every choir at school, but I love good music....all the old crooners before rock n roll came onto the scene, particularly Deano, most C+W and some light classical stuff...Rock n roll of course as I grew up in that scene and went to school with Australia's King of rock n roll Johnny O'Keefe.
Now days Nana Mouskouri I find as just Angelic in both looks and sound.
Only stuff that turns me off is heavy metal, and rap crap.

    Still musical tastes are subjective.

Probably one of the most exciting moments I have ever had, was laying back on a beach in Molake Fiji, with my trusty 7x50's and being able to see the Galleon Satellites...showed my young bloke [ he was 8 years old then] and it was probably the most excited I have ever seen him...as was I for that matter!

You learn..there is the theory which when you understand is a big help... you have the blues which is a 12 bar repeating thing..three cords over which you play notes from a learnt scale after no time at all you find you can play by ear..it just like whisling a tune...I can teach you in one lesson.
I like rock and roll particularly blues type...ZZ top..simple as a brick but driving. Just fixed the guitar and wait8ng for the glue to set , test it and play some stuff.
