Best actors

I don't fawn over or admire the most popular actors or actresses of any given time or trend. I think the best actors are those who are more into the craft and the art of their job than commercialism. I think the best actors are often supportive or character actors too as well as those who are not well known or famous. Famous actors seem often to become famous for a variety of reasons, not necessarily because they are better actors.

One of my favorite and often character actors is Tim Curry. He is famous but i prefer those who don't care as much about the limelight and hollywood parties etc as it seems awfully garish. Actors that seem to always be in the spotlight just as other stars seem really foolish and shallow peacocks for no other reason than just to be plastered everywhere for the dumbest reasons such as what they are wearing, who is dating who etc and annoying.

John hurt, alan rickman and sam neill are some more famous ones. there are so many others that are less famous that are good actors too in lots of made for tv movies etc.

Avery Brooks is another underrated. I like these people where it's a job, craft, profession etc not so much about being a star. Damn, he was fine too.

I really like character actors, it is just amazing how they can change their personas.
2 of my favorites are Stephen Tobolowsky and Stephen Root.

Best actor: Jesus.

Because of his coming back from the dead?

Or his follow up disappearing trick from which he has never been seen again?

But 2000 years plus people still believe he will return??????

Give it up people

Its a epic fail

The biggest con though was he

never existed in the first place

:)

Best actor:
(I do not know his name)
Long ago, at the end of basic training:
The entire battalion were gathered in a large theatre hearing same old same old
when the presenters were interrupted by a sergeant who read off a list of activities in southeast asia culminating in the chinese army entering the fray and our president calling for an emergency session of congress to ask for a declaration of war with China which was granted at 0700 hours.
And then he said: "gentlemen, we are at war."
"Oh shit", I thought, "China who could field a soldier for every man woman and child in the USA."
"OH SHIT" as I leaned back
and then
Almost the entire 1700 man battalion started cheering and shouting things like Yeah let's kill 'em....etc..

"OH SHIT" I thought, "Not only do I get to fight the Chinese, but I get to do it surrounded by IDIOTS"
"OH SHIT" as I sunk down in my seat
and then
I noticed that at the end of every row was a sergeant or corporal watching us and taking notes.
Later, I was ordered to see the battalion commander. While awaiting my appointment, I met the other 4 or 5 "Oh Shits"
The commander informed me that I had a bad attitude. I told him that if the insanity of wanting to fight the Chinese was an indication of a good attitude, then someone's priorities were askew.
.............
Ok when I left basic, I only had a "good conduct" rating. The army in it's infinite fubar wisdom required excellent conduct ratings to get the good conduct medal.

OOPS

While I conceded the possibility that everyone who joined the army may not have been crazy when they joined, they certainly seemed to be crazy at that time(excepting the other 4-5 oh shits)

Whoever that sergeant was, he did a damned good job of convincing 1700 sleep deprived recruits.

so, he gets my vote.

Woody Allen is driving along when a light turns red in front of him. He discusses at length the philosophical implications of red lights and what he has done to deserve being assaulted by a red light.

Richard Dreyfuss is driving along when a light turns red in front of him. He shouts, "OH, MY GOD! THE LIGHT IS RED! IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!" and foams at the mouth.

Clint Eastwood is driving along when a light turns red in front of him. He puts his foot on the brake. That's acting.

I've had a crush on Sigourney Weaver for over 40 years. Since the first time I saw her picture in a magazine, I thought she was the most attractive woman in Hollywood.
I saw her on The Late Show last week.... and she's exactly the same, and I still think so.
Not too shabby at acting, either.

The following has been said by many very good actors in the role of "Jaques" (it being a favored role of those so inclined) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaques_(As_You_Like_It)
All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages.

The character speaking is that of a cynic, a disillusioned man of no productive occupation.
