Why on earth are you required to do that???
You'd stick up for someone if that person was acting like an ass, merely because that person is part of your culture and their opponent isn't?
That's really...really..weird.
It is not because he is from the same culture as me that I defend him, it is that I understand he feels he has the right to say what ever he damn well feels like he wishes that I feel I must defend him. And I don't care where you were born or raised frankly. I am more understanding if you are an American though. Because in America, we have been raised to always speak our mind,
it is our birth right!
I don't feel "required" to do anything. . . I feel like it is only ethical and moral. . . it is part of a way to preserve freedom if we all wish to remain intellectually, emotionally, and physically free. Freedom is what I cherish most.
Do you cherish your freedom or sensibilities more? Frankly, I can handle being insulted as long as I am free. I can't handle having my thoughts, my speech and actions controlled, as long as the trade off is not being insulted.
What do you cherish more, your identity and freedom, or your sensibilities? I'd rather defend who you are and your right to be, rather than your right not to be insulted.
bullshit.
the ONLY defense frag deserves is in relation to the mod team, nothing more.
w/e. Like I said. . . It is precisely the reverse for me. I don't think there should be any moderation at all on the Forums. On a discussion Forum like this, the free market should determine moderation, members should moderate themselves. If they don't, and the act like children, they should be ignored. And if there is going to be moderation. . . then moderators shouldn't be involved in discussion unless it is only to help members with technical issues. Otherwise, the title "moderator" lends some sort of false authority to their posts, which quite frankly, as evidenced in this controversy, just isn't there.
