Rap is the future of culture

That is what I am saying rap is a style of life, you all who don't get the drift of rap will never understand it.

Rap in itself is music at best.
If one wants to build ones life around it.. fine. But that doesn't make it the future of culture.

Rap is style of life, future of expression of culture, beat of rap has more future than melody of music. Rap is something totally else, the first time I heard rap I was disgusted and I did not understand it, but I am very much attracted but that which I do not understand so I started searching for rap that I might like and what in rap might attract me, and I found it. Rap spoke the truth, I always looked for, the truth of the streets and it strongly coincided with my past and future and my struggle in this life. Rap has become a pastor to me in essence.

Maybe it does something for you, and possibly for many others.
But future of culture ? Come on..

I just see great potential in rap, it is totally different style of music and has a potential to bring emotions and match the beat of this Era.

So have other kinds of music and lifestyles. Rap just works for you. It even sounds like it's something of a religion to you.

Rap right now sucks (with soulja boy, mims and all those one-hit wonder artists) Rap is dying out.

FAO All of those who refuse to accept that there are so many rappers out there who actually have something to say...

I give you Sage Francis

Narcissist.

[Chorus]
I don't look at myself in the mirror because I'm a narcissist
I simply like to watch myself exist...(HHHH)
Now I'm in a fog and mist...(HHHH)
Now my reflection is anonymous
Ponder this!

I've seen a reflection of my soul in the store window
Caught in limbo 'cause I was dressed all in Timbo's
Having fantasies of playing Polo with Ralph Lauren on a Tommy Hill
And my paper thin spirit was still grieving from the Versace kill in Florida
Opened the door to the store and I walked down the corridor
to see they had a blow out sale on Nautica
I've always been a Lord of the button down Flies?
Being they were half-priced, I pass 'em on by looking for Levis
But Guess what? All my favorite clothing lines and hip designs
Were being liquidized and it made me sick to my eyes
I don't understand...when I had no ends...the price was quick to rise
I'd buy a pair of trends even if they didn't fit my size
Purchase a surplus of fads from merchants whose ads
Made these cheap ass fabrics that were so worthless and sad
Just look priceless, they used unethical devices to attack my sense of
self-worth during my prepubescent crisis
It fed into my insecurities, so instead of being righteous
I want everyone to see me like this
It's all about who looks the nicest
Ice is falling off my Rolie onto my body shoot!
I hope to hell it doesn't melt and ruin my Armani suit
While I'm sweatin' this, some kid who doesn't got any loot
Is buying my necklace along with my same exact khakis and army boots
What?! This is blasphemous!
Since Adidas tried changing its logo
there ain't been nothing as wack as this
It's probably a stunt being pulled by Animal Rights activists
Because of all that Third World country garbage but im a pessimist
So while these monkeys sweat over my name brands that exchange hands
From enslaved lands, I wonder if I'm the same man
Without reward...for what I bought but CAN'T still afford
This is the type of self-realization that might have killed the Lord
*Didn't mind working free as a walking billboard
But now I want my money back...as my ice spilled and poured
Onto the floor I did see a distorted reflection of my Nike hat
I don't know how others might react
For me it was an unsightly act that helped me get my psyche back
I stood 5 feet back, afraid that it might strike me like Shaclack clack!
Ya'll think I'm kidding? It's no* big thing
What I seen made my heart hurt, stomach turn, throat burn, teeth cringe
spine tingle, and ribs sting
I noticed that the swoosh symbol was nothing but a whip in mid-swing..

[Chorus]
I don't look at myself in the mirror because I'm a narcissist
I simply like to watch myself exist...(HHHH)
I'm in a fog and mist...(HHHH)
Now my reflection is anonymous,

Makeshift Patriot.

Makeshift Patriot
The Flag Shop Is Out Of Stock
I Hang Myself at Half Mast

It’s the Makeshift
The Patriot
The Flag Shop is Out of Stock
I hang myself... via live telecast

Coming live from my own funeral, beautiful weather offered a nice shine
Which is suitable for a full view of a forever altered skyline
When times like these arrive I freestyle biased opinions every other sentence
Journalistic ethics slip when I pass them off as objective
"Don't give me that ethical shit."
I've got exclusive, explicit images to present to impressionable American kids
And it's time to show this world how big our edifice is!

That's exactly what they attacked when a typically dark skinned Disney villain
Used civilians against civilians and charged the Trojan horses into our buildings
Using commercial aviation as instruments of destruction
Pregnant women couldn't protect their children
Wheelchairs were stairway obstructions
Now have to back petal...from the shower of glass and metal
Wondering how after it settles we'll find who provided power to radical rebels
The Melting Pot seems to be calling the kettle black when it boils over
But only on our own soil so the little boy holds a toy soldier..
And waits for the suit and tie to come home. We won't wait 'til he's older
before we destroy hopes for a colder war to end
"Now get a close up of his head"

Makeshift Patriot
The Flag Shop Is Out of Stock
I Hang Myself at Half Mast
”How does my hair look”

Makeshift Patriot
The Flag Shop Is Out of Stock
I Hang Myself at Half Mast
“Run that tape back”

Makeshift Patriot
The Flag Shop Is Out Of Stock
I Hang Myself at Half Mast
“Looks just like a movie”

It’s the make shift
The patriot
The Flag Shop is Out of Stock
I hang myself
“while the stock markets crash”

The city is covered in inches of muck
I see some other pictures of victims are up
Grieving mothers are thinking their children are stuck
Leaping lovers are making decisions to jump
While holding hands...to escape the brutal heat
Sometimes in groups of the three
The fall out was far beyond the toxic cloud where people look like debris
But all they saw after all was said...beyond the talking heads
Was the bloody dust with legs looking like the walking dead calling for meds
but Hospitals are overwhelmed. Volunteers need to go the hell home
Moments of silence for fire fighters were interrupted by cell phones
Who's gonna to make that call to increase an unknown death toll?
It's the one we rally behind
He's got a megaphone...and he's promising to make heads roll
we cheer him on, but asbestos is affecting our breath control
The lesser we know...the more they fabricate...the easier it is to sell souls

(Man talking)
There is a new price on freedom, so buy into it while supplies last.
Changes need to be made;
No more curbside baggage,
Seven pm curfew,
Racial profiling will continue with less bitching.
We've unified over who to kill, so until I find more relevant scripture to quote,
Remember, our god is bigger, stronger, smarter, and much wealthier.
So wave those flags with pride, especially the white part.

We sell an addictive 24 hour candle light vigils in TV's
Freedom will be defended...at the cost of civil liberties
The viewers are glued to television screens
Stuck... cause lots of things seem too sick
I use opportunities to pluck heart strings for theme music
I'll show you which culture to pump your fist at, which foot is right to kiss
we don't really know who the culprit is yet...but he looks like this
we know who the heroes are. Not the xenophobes who act hard
"We taught that dog to squat, how dare he do that shit in our own back yard!"
They happened to scar our financial state and char our landscape
Can you count how many times so far I ran back this same damn tape?
While a camera man creates news and shoves it down our throats on the West Bank
With a ten second clip put on constant loop to provoke US angst
So get your tanks and load your guns and hold your sons in a family huddle
Cos even if we win this tug of war and even the score...humanity struggles
There's a desperate need of blood for what's been uncovered under the rubble
Some of them dug for answers in the mess...but the rest were looking for trouble

Makeshift patriot
The flag shop is out of stock
I hang myself at half mast.
(3x)

It's the makeshift
The patriot
The flag shop is out of stock
I hang myself.
Don't waive your rights with your flags.

Ok, back on topic. Hip hop is the biggest selling genre in the world & has been for some time. Obviously sales don't always equal quality but can that many people be wrong? I have little doubt that in time another genre will become the worlds most popular one & Hip Hop will take a back seat until it enjoys a retro revival. But it's influence on global popular culture in the last 20 years in undeniable. Yes, there is something lame about suburban white kids pretending like they grew up in the 'hood but that's not the fault of the music is it?

I am a Hip Hop fan, there's no 2 ways about it, but I don't feel that the mainstream rap is really representative of what I would consider to be Hip Hop. To me all that stuff is just pop music - instantly forgettable & deliberately dumb.

I don't expect that anyone would change their minds on the subject as taste is subjective & one mans meat is another's poison but it seems to me that a lot of the reaction to rap is much the same as any youth culture that is misunderstood by the older generation.

*Rant over*

P.S.
To those of you who seem to be convinced that anyone can m.c. & make beats, why not put your money where your mouth is? If it's so easy & anyone can do it why don't you? Instead of acting like a bunch of bitches on the internet why don't you all bring you infinitely superior musical talents to the masses?

So, you don't know much about music AND the Rap recording industry.

I think the OP meant that society will break down in the future into anarchy....

Rap is just music at its purest element which is the beat. You can't produce anytype of music without one. Its the foundation of all music. That I have ever heard or played.

Try a slow air on an Irish whistle. Or a Piebroch. Or some of the onamotopoetic Tuvan landscape evocations in the throat singing.

That's OK, just don't call it music. It's poetry. Back when declaimed poetry (rap) was a High Art in what would become the Western tradition, there was music and poetry and the two were recognizably different - they had different recognized masters, different roles. We've just gone through a short time of absence of declaimed poetry as a High Art, and we don't recognize it.

It's almost identical, in form and delivery and probably audience character, to the Odyssey or the Tale of the Dun Cow or probably Beowulf in their original manifestations. It resembles the actual performances of works like the Bhagavad Gita. It's similar to Chaucer's performances of his Canterbury Tales.

Most of it's utter garbage, but it's early on and there are no standards. The old poetry traditions formed schools, apprenticeships, and the like. Rap started out rejecting all that, a possibly necessary starting point given what academia did to the Mabinogian, but if it wants to hang around it will have to find a way to cull for quality. Either that or suffer the fate of being culled for profit. .

Lord have mercy, I'm so controversy
Bet you've never seen a star cry
I gave you my life
My blood, sweat, and tears
Hip-hop's bad girl for ten f**kin' years

Lord have mercy, I'm so controversy
Bet you've never seen a star cry
I gave you my life
My blood, sweat, and tears
Hip-hop's bad girl for ten f**kin' years

See I know how it feel to wake up fucked up
How can the spectators say Fox is stuck up
How can y'all judge my life, like I ain't have struggles
Sometimes I feel like I live inside a fuckin' bubble
I work hard for mines, baby, I'm a thoroughbred
And I don't care what channel 5 and the haters said
I will not cower, I will not conform
I've been through this rap shit too long
And everybody wanna know 'bout Fox
Bet I'm the most controversial young rap bitch in hip-hop
and please don't shed me no tears, I need y'all prayers
Feds on my back, tryna' give me five years
and my P.O. stay tryna' violate me
So I make sure my piss is clean, my wrists is gleamin'
and my whip is sick, my six is mean
Paparazzi take flicks and see how the bitch lean
I'm every black girl's dream
Controversy sells, I was taught at sixteen
I spaz if you tempt me
Only black bitch to get press like the white bitches, Paris & Lindsay

Lord have mercy, I'm so controversy
Bet you've never seen a star cry
I gave you my life
My blood, sweat, and tears
Hip-hop's bad girl for ten fuckin' years

Lord have mercy, I'm so controversy
Bet you've never seen a star cry
I gave you my life
My blood, sweat, and tears
Hip-hop's bad girl for ten fuckin' years

Allow me to tear it all down
You gotta get the fuck back up if you fall down
Can't stumble or crumble, or let 'em see you drown
And I swear with every tear that I cry - I'm here now
Imagine how it feel to see your world torn down
This is not Fox that's speakin - there's no more Brown
Let me reintroduce myself and tear the wall down
Hold up - Let me take the platinum plaques all down
Let me take off my jewelry, the ring by my middle finger
Nice to meet you again, Hi, My name is Inga
I cry real tears - cuz I'm a real person
Look beyond my fur coats and Chanel purses
Put aside the Christian Dior, and look inside my soul
and see I'm just a little insecure
I'm just like y'all - but I probably hurt more
After thirteen years I feel I deserve more
And I single handedly changed the whole rap game
Bust a shot when y'all mention my name - Blockaaa, Brown

DAYUM FOXY!,I LOVE HER LYRICS,SHE SPEAKS ABOUT REAL SHIT,SHE ISNT TALKING ABOUT BOUNCING TO THE LEFT AN DOING THE EGGS AND WAFFLE DANCE,TRUE LYRICAL BITCH.
