hey all, i have a problem, hopefully you have a solution

I'm running windows media player v.7, and i tried to run an .avi file, a Rocko's Modern Life episode :)

But, it runs it as a sound file, with the visualizations you get during sound files being played, but no video. Yes, i have divx codec installed i think, well i've watched porn on here before after i downloaded that, so i guess i still have it. maybe not

anyway, any suggestions? thanks..

Windows media player is a clunky piece of junk. I've had a few problems with it too.

The solution is to get 'winamp'. It runs perfectly and can play every format under the sun, including video files. Plus, the skins are beautiful and plenty. All free.

note that avi is a container. it may contain iv5, wmf, wmv, divx, xvid, mpg4, real, anything..

like i say, its just a container format. you ened a codec that can play all the streams found within it. you ahd an mp3 decodec but not a divx. however, you cant guarantee that all avi are divx, so install other codecs too

and also, i recommend realone player over wmp every time. much more rliable seeking and playback of divx :)
