Well Win9x comes with a utillity called "Fdisk" which should alow you to partition your hard drive (In other words you should be able to tell the computer to use ALL of the hard drive).

    I think i know what's wrong

You said that before the crash you could see all 6Gb of your hard drive right?
Now you only see 2Gb, right?

First let me say i few things:
FAT-File Allocation Table is used to partition your hard drive
FAT16-used by windows 95A supports up to 2Gb hard drive
FAT32-which can be used by windows 95B supports up to 2Tb
Windows 95 version A-this is the first windows 95 release
Windows 95 version B-this is the second release with many inprovements

I bet when you installed that 6Gb hard drive you put version B on it or you put A on and upgrade to B and converted the drive to FAT32.

But when you installed windows 95 after the crash you only installed version A which can only allow for there to be 2Gb of hard disk space in one File Allocation Table.

To fix your problem simply buy a windows 95 version B disk or download the fix from windows update.

    Hope this helps.
