Yeah I think so.

The recession will make people more vulnerable. There will probably be some kind of "terrorist" attack to distract them, maybe Iran will be the scapegoat. Then there will be war drums and you know the script.

It is really hard to tell who is and who is not a neocon because an integral part of being a neocon is deception of the public. Romney, a leading Republican, is all over the place on issues. The other day the said he had no lobbyists leading is campaign. When it wass pointed out that he had several lobbyists around him in campaign leadership positions, he narrowed his comment to one individual who was not a lobbyist.

So again, it is really hard to know who is and who is not at this point. Once elected, and we start seeing policy, it will be pretty evident rather quickly to those who are not bound by party thinking if the president is a neocon or not.

And I want to point out neocons can be from both parties. Clinton displayed a lot of neocon propensities as well...even more so in his latter days.

I think this is going to be a unique election. That makes it even harder to predict than usual. To me, Obama's catching up to Hillary Clinton is due to this being a unique election; with people thinking differently, and different type of people voting. Furthermore, I have huge doubts as to the security of our election process, e-voting most of all.

There are too many factors to make much of a prediction, but I'd slightly lean toward democratic victory. The nation has been leaning to the democratic side for a while now, and there is little the Republicans can do to regain their lost credibility.

Some other things that make me slightly optimistic is both Obama and Clinton will stand up to petty attacks far better than John Kerry did, and better than Gore did, too. Obama because he is a intelligent speaker who can think on his feet, and Clinton because she runs a very savvy campaign. Look at how her campaign managed to turn Obama's union endorsements into a negative about bullying, and turned union members to Clinton.

Nope. The Neo-Con philosophy is all but dead in American politics for some time.

Ron Paul isn't a neocon, he's more of a paleocon on a lot of issues, being a fallen Libertarian. (Real libertarians believe that peaceful people have the right to migrate freely.) But he could win. The probability is not high but it's not zero. He could win the Republican nomination because all the other candidates have pissed off each other's supporters. On the 29th ballot they might decide that the only one they can all support is Paul. And then if Hillary gets the Democratic nomination, she who was in the Senate and voted for the damn war in Iraq will be running against a man who was in the House and voted against it, and pledges to bring the troops home immediately. Depending on how the war's going at that point, it could make the difference. Obama has also pledged to bring the troops home and he also spoke out against the war from the beginning, although he wasn't in Congress and didn't have to put his money where his mouth is. Still that would make him tough competition for Paul on the war issue.

Frankly, anybody might win this one. I'm embarrassed to say that there are a lot of Americans who won't vote for Obama just because he's of African ancestry, and there are a lot of Americans who won't vote for Hillary just because she doesn't have a penis. Whoever the Republicans put up will have a chance.

There are no "neocons" running so none can win. I think Romney will win. I think he is the total package. I don't love any of the candidates and am not excited about any of them.:(

Most of the Rep candidates have flipflopped on issues, have been WAY too liberal on HUGE issues like criminal aliens, and aren't capturing most of CCR Americans' hearts or votes.:(

I think it will be Hillary vs. Romney and Romney will win. I could be wrong.:)

Interesting point on neocons, Bush II ran on a platform completely contrary to neocon doctrine. However, when he governed, you could not find a better neocon in terms of policy...except mabye one who could sucessfully execute the doctrine. But I will give him credit, he sure gave it the old college try, or at least his staff did.
