point me out if i am wrong but how is it scientific i dont understand. isnt it more cultural and life orientated?. theoretical and applied linguistics, foreign languages, historical and comparative linguistics peace.
but how is it scientific if we are not discovering or learning anything new from it? shouldent it be history or culturaly rooted? peace.
Of course we're learning from it. The development of language gives (possibly) some insight into thought processes, how the brain developed, how cultures moved across the world etc. It does tie in to both, but the study of language itself is deeper than just history or culture. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linguistics
cool. i didnt know this, i really didnt think we could gain any scientific knowledge from obersving language, i thought we already knew all there was to know about different dialects and languages. peace.
