Three weeks prior to Australia's official landing in East Timor we had SAS and RAR troops in there, scouting. The SAS did the same job in Afghanistan. I would not be surprised at all if they are already doing the same in Iraq. However, there has been only one news report of it I think.

It seems to be a glorius opportunity at the moment to be an ally of the U.S. since you can join hands and send your special troops into the heart of a potential warzone and get some on-the-job training.

Now, if war breaks-out it's a different story. I wouldn't want to sacrifice my troops for someone else (unless they were a true ally) but then again - where else are you going to get your guys this kind of training without disclosing it to the public?

As always, a though without thought - just a feeling ...

Asguard, isn't this the same PM who lied to Australia claiming boat people where throwing children into the ocean, when he knew the truth but chose not to tell the public? I'd place Howard with Bush and Blair on people I would never believe

We have one report in holland about british and aussie special forces, especially looking for potential scud missile launch sites and hiding places, the previous time, the mobile scud launchers had time to get back to their concealed bunker before the allies could bomb them.

However it is not official, because at this stage , if it would be official it would be an act of war, even before the u.s forces the u.n to give it's blessing....
