View Full Version : where is CNN, FOX, BBC ?
otheadp 03-17-04, 06:26 PM in the past few days there have been uprisings by Kurds in Syria (over 20 people died, Syrian tanks had to be sent into cities) and by Iranian students against the Islamist regime in Iran, also for a few days already, with at least 8 people dead.
why haven't the major news outlets reported anything?
and why hasn't anyone demonstrated about the atrocities committed by the Syrian and Iranian regimes? or at least voiced some opinion?

FOX:

CNN:

BBC:

You just need to look harder...
:m: Peace.
otheadp 03-17-04, 07:11 PM i do... if the stories are little footnotes.
they got the minimal coverage
CNN treated it only as "soccer hooliganism", which is far less serious than what's hapening on the ground. the report they used came from Syrian gov't officials and not from Kurds.
there were tanks sent into Kurdish areas. how's that for soccer hooliganism?
there was also no followup and no mentioning in any of these sources that thousands were arrested, beaten, and tortured by Syrian security forces
...
that takes care of Syria
you haven't found anything about Iran and Saudi Arabia, have you?
the hypocrisy of these news firms is making me sick... they selectively go for the easy stories and then pat themselves on the back for "heroic journalism"... while being chickenshits about going to real hot areas for fear of losing access and therefore profits and investors' cash
then there's the little issue of the serious possibility of losing their lives or being jailed like Bill Sampson for example.
it's hard to get "hot scoups" from despotic countries isn't it...
god forbid they report something contradictory to the 'news' and opinions they were handed by the despots
these so-called news firms get "scoops" only from democratic places (those too, very selectively), where they have complete freedom to bullshit, sensationalize and propagandize in the most profit-maximizng way
aside from the abovementioned unfolding events, where are reports from Tibet? Sudan? Taliban's Afghanistan (when it still existed)? Egypt with its treatment of Christians?
the list can go on...
otheadp 03-17-04, 07:16 PM i spoke to a Buddhist today
he was damn pissed that a certain group (which shall remain nameless.. ahem..) has hijacked all the attention from serious international issues and conflicts.
he's pissed that the Tibetans, which endured hardships 10 times worse then the aforementioned group, do not get any media attention at all
hypewaders 03-17-04, 08:45 PM Not a very devout Buddhist, it would seem.

The cable news channels don't have time for all of that. They're only on for 24 hours out of each day.
static76 03-17-04, 09:27 PM why haven't the major news outlets reported anything?
It's called ratings. Newcasts aren't about informing, it's about entertaining.
People are becoming desensitized?
otheadp 03-18-04, 04:17 PM http://www.dailypundit.com/archives/013129.php
The most supinely pro-terrorist, anti-war, anti-American, surrender-at-any-cost media outlet in the English speaking world, and what does it get them?
otheadp 03-18-04, 04:34 PM http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2004/03/18/wkurd18.xml&sSheet=/news/2004/03/18/ixworld.html
Thousands of Kurds fought pitched battles with paramilitary police across northern Syria yesterday as rioting, in which at least 30 people have died, worsened for the fifth day in a row.
Tanks were reported on the streets of Kameshli...
still not a word on FOX, CNN, BBC MSNBC etc (that was a rhyme)
guthrie 03-18-04, 05:13 PM Good question. try emailing the beeb and see what answer you get. But the BBc was emasculated a month ago by the Hutton report, so its likely to avoid anyting "sensitive" for a while. Baghdad car bombings are safer. But yes, they should be reporting it.
otheadp 03-18-04, 06:22 PM the baathist broadcasting corporation is not the only perp though.
guthrie 03-19-04, 05:50 PM Hey, isnt that Libel? the BBC could have you up in court in the UK and sue your ass off. If they could be bothered.
otheadp 03-19-04, 06:03 PM it's not libel, it's a pseudonim :D
oh i'd love to be sued by the BBC. anything to get them to waste money
otheadp 03-20-04, 11:49 AM USA Today too have a Jason Blair among them
well, not any more. they fired the scumbag.
among the 8 stories he made up, one was a 1st-hand account about 'settlers' shooting a 'palestinian' taxi
http://www.haaretzdaily.com/hasen/spages/406742.html
oh how easy it is to go after the victim! :(
On September 2001 Kelley reported that he joined a group of settlers from Hebron at an ambush, from which they fired at a Palestinian taxi.
...
The three former newspaper editors brought in to conduct the investigation -- Bill Hilliard, Bill Kovach and John Seigenthaler -- called Kelley's conduct "a sad and shameful betrayal of public trust."
otheadp 03-21-04, 11:32 AM another example of big networks deceiving (http://www.israelnn.com/news.php3?id=59781) their viewers
Whoever doesn't report, deceives both their public and themselves.
otheadp 03-21-04, 11:53 AM go here (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/040320/ids_photos_wl/r1886492064.jpg), and click on the "slideshow" on the left side.
there are 358 pictures, so far i've checked only 50, but all i've found is pictures of Israeli soldiers being rough, pointing guns at 'palestinians', Israeli tanks, bodies of 'palestinians', and 'palestinain' children and women crying.... other pics include Ariel Sharon smiling
how is this not propaganda???
not a single picture of a dead israeli.
not a single picture of a crying israeli mother/ child
not a single picture of damaged property from shooting and bombing attacks
not a single pic from israeli funerals
or blood stained clothes
except the 1st 2 pics of a coffin... but the dead israeli is an Arab.. and the terrorists who killed him decided to give him a "martyr status" after they sent an "oops, sorry" letter to his family.
edit:
somebody was saying "Jews control the media"?
if we do, then we are doing a damn lousy job!
otheadp 03-22-04, 09:52 AM if you check every single big news company in the US (and in europe too), there will be picture of Yassin on the cover.
that's a lot of coverage for 1 dead monkey.
isn't this inciting?
"look, Muslims, this guy is dead. he's dead dead dead. he's not alive anymore. check out the pics. he's DEAD"
that times 1000
why so much attention? if i were CNN i'd be more discreet about it for safety purposes, if not for balanced reporting
it's like the arabs have a free ride with western media
===========
edit:
i've watched some CNN this morning, all Wolf Blitzer is talking about is about the "freedom fighter" Yassin, who "dedicated his life" bla bla bla.
"there's still no condemnation from the white house?"
"i wonder", he asks the correspondent from Gaza, "were those American weapons used in the raid?"
"yes wolf, they were. it's standard here, to use US weaponry"
so, a condemnation has to come from the white house, and now they're highlighting US military aid to Israel... some impartial reporters they are... scum of the earth
Wolf Blitzer is what we call Yehudon
otheadp 07-21-04, 12:37 AM *bump*
