I live in the north west of australia, in a mining town which supplies natural gas domestically, to japan, and, more recently, china. among other places. the nearest "town" is two hours drive north. six hours south. industry is already beginning to fuck it up, but for now....

i can go out a half hours drive, and camp on a beach where there is no light pollution. stars. fish, big fish. sharks too, if they take the bait. kangaroos, turtles, bald eagles, snakes, lizards, you name it. no people. thank fuck, no people. you can only get there in a four wheel drive, and even then only if you dont mind it getting... a little dirty. scratched. dented. banged up. bogged. take a snatch rope with you. they say there's ancient aboriginal rock carvings out here, but i havent found any yet. bugger.

i go out there, and fish, and stop thinking about breaking things.
