LOL, my worst (not this year) was also a diamond ring. For basically the same reason.
My husband and I don't exchange gifts at xmas. We go all out on the kids and family. We figure we have our anniversary and Mothers/Fathers Day.

I got a weather station that is pretty cool. It's got a wind speed detector and humidity gauge. The worst present was a book - something like "The 100 persons most screwing up America" - like I give a damn about somebody else's opinion on this subject.

I've had one all my life, myself! I use my eyes to see what's going on outside and my finger to tell the wind speed and direction. ;)
