Lucas and folk purposefully do not mention Yoda's race name; and there were only 2 other Yoda-like creatures running around in the Wars expanded universe.

Ok. I wish I could clarify myself. But they are the same: empire strikes back and phantom mentace and revenge of the sith. They just changed his appearance. I am getting the picture now that yoda is a whill. Yes I am young.

For Empire and Jedi.. Yoda was a muppet... manipulated and voiced by Frank Oz.

Yoda and Yaddle of the jedi council were never actually explained as a race. Whill is the best guess out there as he is obviously not a Lannick (not enough digits)

It should be noted that neither Yoda or Yaddle have ever mentioned their race. As of TPM Yoda was over 800, and Yaddle over 300. Also Yoda was noted for his full head of hair as late as -230 BY (Battle of Yavin)

As for Mace Windu he is a human and much like Lando and Panaka happens to be Black. Since the skin color is a human adaptation to a hot and sunny environment I would guess that perhaps their progenitors might be from thse types of planets.

I've never heard of the Whill b4 and am certain someone describes Yoda as somthing called a Frogling (albeit flipantly,) on the extras on the RofTS DVD. I think Frogling sounds better than Whill.

Actually Frank Oz who was the voice of Yoda and well as the muppeteer desribed Yoda as the incredible ancient lovechild of Kermit and Miss Piggy, then again Frank Oz is known for being extremely eccentric.

I found a website recentsly (shadow saber or shadow something, look up episone 7,8,9, which the website has ties to Lucas,) the site says that when people travel to yodas home, they find his plannet. he is called a Whill, as a species.
