just wanted to get a complete list of ai .. shit off the top of my head
neural networks,
genetic algorithims,
lisp,
prolog,
expert systems,
common sense reasoning / knowledge bases (ala cyc)
data mining
visual recognition
pattern recognition
voice recognition
.. uhmm thats all i can think of for now post anything and everything under the ai sun.
lisp is pretty good for Genetic Programming. I would not call Lisp a subfield though, thats kind of liek adding Matlab to the list.
Same goes for Prolog. It is rather a tool than a subfield.

One of my professors remarked that problems once considered to be in the field of artificial intelligence have tended to become viewed as fields of their own - machine vision, data mining, natural language processing, for example.
Additions: planning/scheduling, natural language processing.
Yeah there does seem to be some overlap here, I mean pattern recognition will cover both voice and visual recognition. wether its a soundwave or a heat signature( or retinal scan), you are still teaching the machine to recognise a pattern.
What about Tree Structured Classifers and using Snakes for pattern recog.

i havent heard about tree structured classifiers and using snakes for pattern recogniton.. sounds interesting though!
so current list is ?
neural networks,
genetic algorithims,
expert systems,
common sense reasoning / knowledge bases (ala cyc)
data mining
pattern recognition
-tree structured classifiers
-snakes ?
planning/scheduling/goal making
would we put natural language processing under pattern recognition?
like father like son like man like robot.. (name that quote)
