I wish to be cremated, tossing my damn body in a box and under ground for eternity is rather disrespectful to me,its like ok he has lived his life, put him in the ground WTF? Just burn me up to no existence so my body can be of the earth.

    Happy Days Are Here Again.

I'm sure there are some people who will be glad to see the back of me.

Then, I Did It My Way.

    I would settle for two.

The wall on which the prophets wrote
    Is cracking at the seams.
    Upon the instruments of death
    The sunlight brightly gleams.
When every man is torn apart
    With nightmares and with dreams,
Will no one lay the laurel wreath
    When silence drowns the screams.

    Confusion will be my epitaph.
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back
    and laugh.
But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying.

Between the iron gates of fate,
The seeds of time were sown,
And watered by the deeds of those
    Who know and who are known;
    Knowledge is a deadly friend
When no one sets the rules.
The fate of all mankind I see
Is in the hands of fools.

    Confusion will be my epitaph.
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back
    and laugh.
But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying.

Walk me out in the morning dew, my honey
Walk me out in the morning dew today
Can't walk you out in the morning dew, my honey
I can't walk you out in the morning dew today

I thought I heard a baby cry this morning
I thought I heard a baby cry today
You didn't hear no baby cry this morning
You didn't hear no baby cry today

Where have all the people gone, my honey?
Where have all the people gone today?
There's no need for you to be worrying about all those people
You never see those people anyway

I thought I heard a young man mourn this morning (note 1)
I thought I heard a young man mourn today
I thought I heard a young man mourn this morning
I can't walk you out in the morning dew today

Walk me out in the morning dew, my honey
Walk me out in the morning dew today
Can't walk you out in the morning dew, my honey
I guess it doesn't matter anyway
Well I guess it doesn't matter anyway

But the people who loved you can still have a memorial service. There's no conflict. Funerals are for the living.

    For mine:
    • "Funeral for a Friend" by Elton John. An anthem that most music lovers of my generation would expect.
    • "Mother Earth" by Mother Earth (or Gov't Mule although I haven't heard their rendition). This lovely blues poem from the Depression Era expresses my philosophy about death.
    • "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC. Get the folks laughing and turn this sucker into a party!
    Lyrics to "Mother Earth":

Well, you can high-hat me all the time,
And you might never come my way.
Mother Earth is calling for you.
    There's a debt you've got to pay.

I don't care how rich you are.
    I don't care what you're worth.
    When it all comes down,
You've got to go back to Mother Earth.

You may have a million dollars,
Bought your dog his own Cadillac.
    You may have enough money
    To buy anything you lack.

I don't care how rich you are.
    I don't care what you're worth.
    When it all comes down,
You've got to go back to Mother Earth.

Well, I'm not afraid of dying.
Don't think it'll cause me no pain.
Ain't no one who's gone over there
    Ever come back to complain.

I don't care how rich you are.
    I don't care what you're worth.
    When it all comes down...

You've got to go back to Mother Earth.

We shouldn't be calling it a funeral. That conjures up images of a dead body and a casket.

A memorial service is more like it. So the people who loved you can get together and share their grief. Death of a friend or family member is one of the most important "rites of passage" in our lives and we have to go through it one way or another. It's best done as a community. Funerals are for the living.

I'm having a photograph of myself photoshoped with lots of gold, diamond and emerald jewelery that I am wearing, that way my relatives will go nutz trying to find all of it when I kick the bucket.

Can you still have a memorial service if you're cremated? Because I want to be cremated also but I'd like a memorial service and songs and the whole thing.

whatever my partner wants to play, (and my family)

I care what happens to my organs (ie i want them ALL donated) and i would prefer the rest of me to go to science but as for the funeral well its not about me its about them so it should be there decision

Any screamo song would be the one I'd play at my funeral.

Yes, we had a funeral for my mother, then she was cremated and then there was a ceremony for the burial of her ashes (she wanted that).

    "Bat Country"
"He who makes a beast out of himself, gets rid of the pain of being a man"

Caught here in a fiery blaze, won't lose my will to stay.
I tried to drive all through the night,
the heat stroke ridden weather, the barren empty sights.
No oasis here to see, the sand is singing deathless words to me.

    [Chorus:]
Can't you help me as I'm startin' to burn (all alone).
Too many doses and I'm starting to get an attraction.
My confidence is leaving me on my own (all alone).
No one can save me and you know I don't want the attention.

As I adjust to my new sights the rarely tired lights will take me to new heights.
My hand is on the trigger I'm ready to ignite.
Tomorrow might not make it but everything's all right.
Mental fiction, follow me; show me what it's like to be set free.

    [Chorus]

So sorry you're not here I've been sane too long my vision's so unclear.
Now take a trip with me but don't be surprised when things aren't what they seem.

Caught here in a fiery blaze, won't lose my will to stay.
These eyes won't see the same, after I flip today.

Sometimes I don't know why we'd rather live than die,
we look up towards the sky for answers to our lives.
We may get some solutions but most just pass us by,
don't want your absolution cause I can't make it right.
I'll make a beast out of myself, gets rid of all the pain of being a man.

    [Chorus]

So sorry you're not here I've been sane too long my vision's so unclear.
Now take a trip with me but don't be surprised when things aren't what they seem.
I've known it from the start all these good ideas will tear your brain apart.
Scared but you can follow me I'm too weird to live but much too rare to die.

My family can decide what they want to do as far as a ceremony or memorial goes.
I just know I want to be cremated, and there is no need to make a big elaborate production about the whole thing.

'Oh Superman' by Laurie Anderson, played three times. I'm going to make those that survive me work for that buffet.

    cool question. love it.

brand new - play crack the sky.

jimmy eat world - my sundown.

    stars - calendar girl.
("january february march and may, i'm alive / november october and all through the winter, i'm alive)... something about these lyrics at a funeral is humorous to me.
