Okay, Why won't XP keep the volume icon thingy in the task bar thingy? I have to go in and manually click it in the control panel each time I start up. I didn't have this problem before I reformatted.

Any ideas?

You've gone into the control panel and set it to show icon in the task bar and it still doesn't?

This is probably gonna seem like a dumb question but might as well get it over with. Is it included in with the hidden icons by any chance?

right click the taskbar, go to properties and click "customize".

see whether the volume icon is hidden.

alternatively go to control panel and click show sound icon in taskbar to make sure it is being shown.

Yeah, it was in with the hidden ones. I don't see why it would go to the control panel and remove the check in the box though.
