Could you be a bit more specific:
What did you do to download the video and what's the format of the video (ie whats the file ending?) after you downloaded it.

okay, on the left in the link i gave there are three different resolutions to download. i downloaded the middle link (256kb mpeg4 [66MB]) by right clicking the hotlink then saving it to my drive

the name of the file on my harddrive is:
    OperationHARDTACK_BasicEffectsStructuresandMaterial1958_256kb.mp4

the file shows up on my drive with the quicktime logo.

the file downloads fine, i have trouble playing it after i have downloaded it

I downloaded file and I have same problem.

Error -37: a bad filename or volume name was encountered

I guess that file is corrupted.

    i found a solution.
i renamed the file "operationHARDTACK.mp4" (without the quotes) and it plays fine.
my guess is the filename was too long.

Filenames over 32 characters in length (from the days of DOS, this number can be different) can cause problems with some operating systems or applications, while it's generaly not a problem anymore, it's best to play it on the safe side. Sometimes non alpha-numric characters, and extended characters sets (ie UNICODE) can cause problems too. If in doubt, keep it under 32 characters, and use only the 26-letters and 10 digits that one usualy finds on an english keyboard.

I downloaded the file, and WMP was able to play it fine, though quiktime wanted top play it by default. It appears quiktime does suffer from such a limitation, I found it would not open with a 60 character filename and above (63 with the extension included.)

Glad to hear you got it working on your own though
