First of all, not many will publically admit it. Some say that's why Clinton won. Women liked him.

If we used looks this time it would be Romney and Obama.

Many Americans are very superficial. Look at Hollyweird. We don't want an unattractive POTUS.

:D Did you hear McCain sing the other nite? He sucked. The media wants him to win though because they know any liberal candidate can beat him--even Edwards.

The goofiest politicians I can remember singing were these:

On the contrary, McCain is the one national polls seeing beating all of the Democratic candidates, except for a tie for Obama. He did better, by far, in one on one general election polls, than any other Republican. Which makes sense. The Republicans will vote for whoever their nominee is no matter what, and McCain is good at getting independent voters.

I bet a lot of 'republicans' would vote for a Buchanan/Paul or Paul/Buchanan ticket.

It's the media pushing McCain, not us. And why is he getting a free pass on that golfball on the left side of his face?

Yes we will vote for our nom just like the libs will.

McCain can't win. He's too old, too liberal, and too unattractive. He also has cancer as do Rudy and Thompson. They should not be running.:(

On the contrary, McCain is the one national polls seeing beating all of the Democratic candidates, except for a tie for Obama. In the Rasmussen polls, McCain beats every Dem candidate head to head except Edwards.

And Edwards is the only Dem candidate who beats every possible Rep candidate now running.

Even the morons that vote based on looks.

No, I mean anyone that bases their vote solely on the looks of a candidate.

Yeah, of course someone who uses a candidates looks should be allowed to vote.

I do. I figure if a candidate can manage to comb their hair, dress themselves appropriately, have a positive demeanor, they might be worth voting for depending on their policy postion, leadership qualities, and management skills.

The last person I want to be president is a negative idiot who can't manage their personal hygiene.

What a silly question.

Honestly sandy. You criticise those who voted for Clinton because of his looks, but you are just as bad.

The current name for it is the Quayle factor. Quite obviously, it's not nearly as persuasive as some would think. After all, if the Quayle factor was dominant, John Edwards would be president right now.

There are certain aspects to people's looks that factor in, but I tend to draw the line between what people choose and, for lack of better, "how God made them". For instance, if it was Steve Jobs vs. Bill Gates, I would side with Steve, not for "how God made him", but because I prefer his fashion sense to Bill's. He shows better sensibility about his personal presentation. One thing working against John Edwards is that his shirts and ties are specifically lawyerly. I noticed that when I was working for an insurance company several years ago. While adjusters and underwriters showed diversity about their shirts and ties, the lawyers all had a specific collar and tied these insanely anal-retentive knots in their neckties. Edwards does himself a favor when he takes off the tie. He would do better to go with a nehru collar.

That Fred Thompson is one of the ugliest faces in history shouldn't preclude him from election as President of the United States of America. That he has one of the ugliest souls in the history of the free world, however, is his own damn fault, and is sufficient reason that he should stick to pretending to be the president in crappy movies.

And Mitt Romney's "pretty face"? It might be what's keeping him in the race. There seems to be nothing about him that is any more than skin deep.

Speaking of the superficial, though, there is one argument to be had for Kucinich. If his wife was First Lady ...? (Hot damn!)

Yep. I don't want an ugly/unattractive president. The most powerful man in the free world should be attractive. :) Like Romney.

Huckabee desperately needs the name of Chuck Norris' dentist:

Rudy just needs help:

Well, see, there's this old Steve Martin routine that includes a certain offensive word I'd never heard before and have never heard since. But it's one of my favorites.

History will remember W as one of the greatest POTUS ever. He had the b@lls to go after evil muslim terrorists. No one else did.

We will not have an ugly POTUS unless the libs elect Hillary or fools elect McCain. Romney is our best bet.:)
