Zimbabwe and China in tiger deal

This is an environment the imported tigers are not likely to find

Zimbabwe is about to import four endangered Siberian tigers from China for captive breeding, officials say.

Zimbabwe Tourism Minister Francis Nhema told the Herald newspaper China had received zebras, elephants and impala as part of an "exchange programme".

Correspondents say the move shows President Mugabe is wooing China.

He is trying to strengthen ties with the Asian giant as his country is increasingly isolated in the world because of a poor human rights record.

"We do not have the tiger in this country and we would like to benefit from the exchange programme with China," Mr Nhema was quoted by the state-controlled Herald as saying.

"We are happy that three experts found out animal habitats friendly to the requirements that are compulsory for tiger breeding and we expect the animals would be here as soon as possible."

    'Cruel'

The tigers are intended for captive breeding in the Hwange National Park, 500km (320 miles) west of the capital Harare.

A biologist working for the National University of Science and Technology in Bulawayo, Peter Mundy, told AP news agency the plan was "a complete load of garbage", adding that the country even lacked the resources to look after its own wildlife.

"It would be cruel," Mr Mundy said, adding that the park's seasons, climate and vegetation were not suitable for those animals, whose native region is seasonally covered in snow.

But Dick Pitman, head of a conservationist organisation, the Zambezi Society, said he approved of the plan provided it was run by tiger experts with adequate foreign funding, and the animals were not allowed to leave the park.
    ************
President Mugabe what a caring man, he puts everbody, out of work, lets them starve, demolishes there houses, but then to show the sensitive side, of the man he imports 4 tigers.

So what can we read from this, he is one of these animal liberation loonies, who think nothing of killing humans, and yet protect our animal friends, at all costs.

Christ he is adolph hitler reincarnated, he even has that centipede moustache hitler had.
Yet the united nations sits around, and does nothing as this madman, destroys a entire country, bringing it to its knees.

United nations, so many pretty words this week in new york, and yet zimbabwe, along with burma, makes a mockery of the United nations.

Funny how BBC manage to complete avoid the real story and take a pot shot from the importation of tigers.

Zimbabwe moved a bunch of white guys off their ill gotten land, which angred the Western countries, who in turn set up sanctions as retailation. (Hardly human rights violation on Zimbabwe's part)

Mugabe removed the white farmers, from there farms, and now the farms are all idle, and the country is starving.

by all means remove the white farmers, but at least have a plan, so the farms still keep producing food.

This was all a political gesture by Mugabe, to kid to his people, he was supposed to return the farms to his people, instead he gave it to his cronies, in government.

The uk was giving Zimbabwe about 25 million dollars in support a year, before he went lunar on everbody.

Mugabe now is a sadistic man, he silences all dissent in his own country even catholic priests have been killed there, he banned the bbc 3 years ago from reporting there, such is his fear of the attrocities he is committing there being reported.

charleses i take you are one the lucky cronies, who got the farmers land, lucky you, shame about 97% of the rest of the population who got jackshit.

Ok folks. I have a plan. Im going to demolish all your homes because they are safety standards. Granted, I wont build you any replacement homes. And yeah, and all you white folk, I know you are growing all the food and supporting the economy- but you have to go.

Robert Mugabe is a despotic fool. What do you expect? Africa as a whole is ruled by men such as he and we wonder why it is still "the dark continent"? The British should never have left.
