Sounds unbelievable to me, that's all. As far as I know, visitors in the Middle East are issued ID cards for purposes of identification by local law enforcement who may not speak English. . It lists everything about you, name address, profession, etc. With the war on I don't know what's happening there, but it makes no sense to me that they could not tell he was American.
