What is your favorite Final Fantasy game, and why?

Final Fantasy was the last game released by a company that was going bankrupt. It turned out to be a global phenomenon. Unlike other games with sequels, each Final Fantasy core sequel is an original game.
FF2 was somewhat of an expanded remake of FF1.
FF 3 was somewhat of an expanded remake of FF2, etc.
    This went on until FF7.

When FF 7 came out, it was a completely different type of story from 1-6, and a completely different game altogether. It could have easily been its own game without the FF title.

    The same goes for 8.

Meanwhile, the original team returned for FF9 which was the last FF game on the PS1. FF9 went back to its roots as a traditional FF game similar to 1-6.

FF 10 was released on PS2 back to the format of 7 & 8 being a completely different and independent storyline that could practically stand on its own.
FF 11 was a typical online RPG.
FF 12 was another independent title similar to 7, 8, and 10.

I don't know too much about the Tactics and Crystal Chronicals series. Crystal Chronicals 1 was a completely orignal game for the Gamecube. The next 2 CC games are less technical DS games. Crystal Bearers is the first real console sequel to the first Crystal Chronicals. Due to be released on the Wii in a few days.

FF 13 is an amazing looking game that will be released in 2010.
FF 14 is an amazing looking mmorpg that will also be released in 2010.
