I am going to try this again, and make it be less biased than one person putting their input in. I think they should be more like the Emmys/Oscars combined with the awful awards you always get at Prom/Graduation. The Awards will be officially announced on September 15th, 2004 after I have added up all the nominations. Feel free to PM me your nominations if you don't feel comfortable naming the person in this thread. Here are the categories; (Main Forums are World, Science, Technology, Philosophy and Subcultures) Best Poster in the Main Forums (overall): Best Poster In: Art and Culture World Events Politics Economics History General Science Science & Society Human Science Earth Science Astronomy, Exobiology, & Cosmology Biology & Genetics Physics & Math Computer Science & Culture Intelligence & Machines General Philosophy Religion Eastern Philosophy Ethics, Morality, & Justice SciFi Pseudoscience Parapsychology Cesspool And for fun: Goofiest Poster: Most Likely Poster to Make You Go Hmm.: Funniest Poster: Most Consistant Poster: Most Predictable Poster: Poster Most Likely to Change Their Name Weekly: Most Offensive Poster: Most Improved Poster: Best Moderator: Most Artistic Poster: Most Verbose Poster: Most Likely Poster to get his/her Point Across: Most Resourceful Poster: Most Humble Poster: Most Egotistical Poster: Best Instigator: Best Ad Hominem Slinger: Best Rebel Without a Clue: Most Level Headed: Most Open-Minded Poster: Best Devil's Advocate: I am attempting to make these a positive thing, and not a negative thing for the people nominated, which is why I am not doing "Worsts" Awards. I don't think that it's fun to get nominated as the worst of anything, so I'm just not doing it. I will keep track of nominations in this thread and from my PM's and report the end result on the evening of September 15th. Good luck to everyone.

ok, so I give myself Avatar's Devil's Advocate award Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Actually, it does. Like in all life, gender does matter. You can ignore the division if you'd like... but it's there and undeniable. People who insist that gender doesn't matter are just caught up in the "We should all be short, grey, sexless beings and the world would be at peace" movement. But that's for a different thread. no, I mean, on sciforums! it's pure thought and intelligence that matters, not whether you have boobs or not p.s. I'm a girl or a boy? maybe I'm an alien? a sexless fairy?
I don't believe that at all. Or it wouldn't be important for people to know. Lots of people, in fact I would say that most people judge you according to your gender if it is known.
ok -> hear thee my oo great example -> discussion on theoretical physics. two science-wise people discuss a subject on neutrinos. one loses the discussion. how come the variables xx or xy affect this discussion or the end conclusion? or anything at all? what if you don't know the gender? do you assume it's a male? I'm a sexless pixy/ bite me / what award do I get? oh.. I don't get an award! this sucks... whether "possitive" or some other kind of a discrimination
So don't nominate anyone, or start your own thread. There is a difference between Devil's Advoate and a Stick-in-the-mud.
If self-nominations are possible, I'd like to nominate myself for Funniest Poster, Most Humble Poster, and/or Most Open-Minded Poster. Does anyone second that?
