Hey guys,
I have put up this poll because I want to see what you guys out there think. so which is your favourite the PS2 or the Xbox? Personnaly i prefer the PS2 because it has the widest range of games and the graphics ROCK!!!! But i also like the way you can store music onto the memory of an Xbox. But i still think the PS2 will always be the best.

Why would one ever want to store music on an x-box?
A PC is a lot better for the purpose.

p.s. I think it's PS2 too.

I don't have an xbox or ps2, I have a Gamecube. My taste in video games is role playing, and the PS2 has more role playing games than any other console, and having the Final Fantasy series on the PS2 is one of the biggest draws for me. The Xbox has nothing real special except Xbox Live, but that costs MORE MONEY. I've probably spent over $400 total on my Gamecube...extra controller, memory card, and games - the last thing I want is to pay for a subscription service. And the graphics for xbox versus ps2 is trivial. Unless you have both systems and routinely play both systems, you won't care which has the "best" graphics.

Choose the system by figuring out which console has the best type of games you like. PS2 for role playing. Gamecube for Zelda. Xbox for first person shooters/fighting. If you're a rich mofo, and don't like role playing games, the xbox is the choice for you.

Yup, I'm another Gamecube guy. I love the Zelda series, the Metroid series, Pikmin! Who can forget the Pikmin! The only thing that GC doesn't have is the Gran Turismo Series. Xbox has forza coming out and i've played the demo for it and it didn't do anything for me. So it looks like I might be getting a PS2 just for GT4.

As usual; I totally agree with maddox. The XboX is shit and worst of all I had bought one ages ago. Almost ever since its been sitting in its box not being used. The only thing I had used it for was a DVD player and its even bad at that, too.

Its one expensive DVD player, I could buy a fairly decent one out of Asda for 20 quid.

The DVD player is slow to load, full of bugs and unless you have your's chipped then you must go out and spend an absolute fortune on a M$ XboX DVD controller and IR Port that plugs into and uses up one of the controller ports (Why the hell didnt they spend a tenner on building an IR port into that massive box, surely there is some empty space in there?!)

As for the PS2, dont get me started! First of all: there was absolutely no need to re-release it except to prolong it's marketable life just that little bit further. Noone was going to go out and buy the new cheaper XboXs anyway so why bother going to the hassle of making it more attractive! Oh yeh, to make it more attractive to stupid kids on the run up to christmas, of course they are going bananas for the new shape meanwhile they hadnt imported enough driving up prices and creating your classic christmas rush scenario.

Apart from that PS2s all the way.

I got a Xbox its ok I am planing on getting a PS2 just because of the amount of games and different types of games, I have played one before and it was easier to play with its controller then the xbox.

Xbox live is great. I love my xbox. But it just depends on the type of games you want to play. I like FPS games, so ive got halo, halo 2, rainbow 6, ghost recon, blah blah blah. Also i like being to download stuff onto the xbox's hd.

How about PC? To me, my PC pays for itself because if I would have bought every game I downloaded, then it would exceed the cost of my PC. I always try the new game, then get bored of it. I have to face the fact that I'm not a gamer.

If I had to choose a console, I would go for a PS2 because of graphics, game selection and the look.

I haven't had any problems with the DVD player and it only has to be "modded" not "chipped" a softmod will do. How To Mod Your Xbox
I softmoded my Xbox with the above info without any problems. I now have a larger HDD, for installing games etc, it runs a lot of emulators, I love playing the old arcade games with MameX(I wasted a lot of money in the 80's :D ). Also I can now watch most media files from the Xbox, including streaming from the internet using Xbox Media Center which also supports Xlink Kai and I save paying for Xbox Live, Xlink also works for PS2.
I not bagging the PS2 but I'm happy I got the Xbox instead and there is enough games for it to satisfy my almost teenage son and I. With widescreen and HDTV support it has become the hub of my entertainment centre.

i have both, got the PS2 with a special deal for $75 and won the Xbox in a prize draw, the PS2 has a CPU 200mhz faster, and better graphics, plus it supports DVD playback without having to buy a $100 remote control and has wider range of cheaper games

the Xbox as far as i am concerned is only any good if you have broadband and use the Xboxlive feature(which costs another $200 + $1 per hour)

as for the Xbox memory, i have found no need for it, i can store all my saves on the PS2 memory card and the 8gb in an Xbox has no purpose as far as i can see, it also means you cannot use your saves on another Xbox and your saves get overwritten when someone eles uses it

get a PS2 if your considering buying anything

I have an Xbox and prefer it to PS2. I don't play it anymore though. I'd vote Xbox, but there is the new 'slim' PS2 out. Not sure how that compares or even if it's better, but I've always been an Xbox fan myself.

Xbox 2 is in development. We've got a family friend working on it in...Mountainview, CA I think it is. He won't say anything about it, but I think it is supposed to be released in 2006 or 2008 or something. My 2 cents.

PS - Too bad they destroyed the Halo 'franchise' with Halo 2. It could have been so much more. Played it for a couple hours then never again.

The playstation 2 graphics are Terrible!!!!, and the games are mostly rubbish too!

X Box all the way!!!!

I don't understand how people can consider the PS2 superior to the XBOX.
Every interesting game the PS2 has, XBOX has it too. With the exception of GT4, and that's the reason why I'll get a PSP (and not a PS2 since it now is kind of obsolete)
But then, XBOX has Halo, Halo2, Ninja Gaiden, and Rallisport Challenge 2, which PS will never get.
Also, the XBOX has much better hardware, resulting in much better graphics and framerate. Just look at gaming websites. The XBOX version of multiplatform games always gets the best score (because of best visuals, and also the inclusion of custom soundtracks, online rankings, online multiplayer, etc.).

The XBOX controller is also much more adapted to todays games than the DualShock controller. Purists will say I am blasphemating, but consider the fact that apart from the thumbsticks, the DS has no analog input. The XBOX-S controller has two analog triggers that work incredibly well in racing games, and the ABXYWB buttons are all analog too, each with 256 levels of pressure. I never felt any strain, even when using it for more than 6 hours straight. Still, I admit that the PS2 controller LOOKS somewhat better.

For the DVD player issues, I never had one, and consider this as a fanboy argument. Also, when you consider all the disk read errors the PS2 get, I wouldn't bring this one into the debate.

Still, it is true that the DVD IR port taking a controller slot is a drawback.
Also, you have to pay 35$ (not 100$) for the DVD kit because every DVD player has to pay money to some DVD consortium. Microsoft simply chose to not making you pay for it if you don't use it. I'd rather pay for more power, especially, if I already have a dedicated DVD Player

And please note that the PS2 is basically the less powerful console of the threesome. XBOX being the best, followed by the NGC. People saying that the PS2 graphics rocks just didn't saw the other consoles in action.

XBOX Live is cheap at 5$/months, considering how good it is.

I totally agree with the fact that the best gaming machine is a PC. The problem here is that it costs waay more money.

I have a friend who bought a slim PS2 lately. When he came home to play Halo2 on Live, he felt like : "Oh, I'm gonna sell this boring thing and get myself an XBOX." He was not using his PS2 since three weeks.

Anyway, I guess it has to do with which games you want to play. But then again, XBOX has all the games most people would want to play.

Choose wisely, or get both ;)
