Have we done a "worst songs" topic yet?

Anyway, I'll start with one of my own lifelong favorites, Styx. They've recorded some absolutely awful tracks:

    Lorelei
    Show Me The Way

And we can't forget the solo projects.

Who Shot Daddy? - Dennis DeYoung
    Southbound Ryan - Dennis DeYoung
    Lonely School - Tommy Shaw
Ever Since the World Began - Tommy Shaw

A few others that come to mind:

    Windmill - Helloween
Bop City - Shotgun Messiah (Watch that drop-down advert ... it's the only link I could find.)
Time To Go - Black 47

So here's the rule: These have to be songs you at least occasionally listen to intentionally.

I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston.

This is the most abominable collection of noises I've ever heard. I swear that the sound of kittens being squashed by enormous trucks carrying crack-addled baboons scratching chalkboards with their unmanicured fingers is subliminally mixed into the recording somewhere. The whole song is just so viscerally unpleasant that I want to throw myself through a window everytime I hear it.

Which, thankfully, isn't as often as it used to be.

    :m: Peace.

    Finntroll: Trollhammeren

It is somewhat strange and very trashy.
(The video clip is even worse)

But otherwise it is a bit funny.

Forgot who originally recorded it, but in 1989 the soap opera star, Michael Damien, did a cover of the most godawful song ever to be sung: "Rock On." Aaargh.

Then there's Yes' "Seen all good people" - "Seen all good people turn their heads to stay so satisfied, I'm on my way ...." What the hell does THAT mean??? Great grammar, too.

The one that almost makes me vomit every time I hear it? "Walking in Memphis" by Marc Cohn. Inane lyrics on top of a bastardized version of "Heart and Soul" on the piano. *bllllecccch*

There is a techno version of Alice Cooper´s Poison. That is so disgusting and horrible. Unbelievable. But I have forgotten who made this remix.

"Achey Breaky Heart" by Billy Ray Cyrus-crappy pop song for rednecks.
Ricky Martin "Loca"- crappy pop song for gay latinos

this is hard cause there are a million of them! I thought VH-1 milked this kind of list for all it's worth...I'm totally sick of Mtv2 and VH1.

We are the Champions - Queen
    Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
I want to ride my bicycle - Queen (I think that's the name, this has to be the most annoying song ever created. It's so bad that it has most likely caused death in some cases.
God Gave Rock & Roll to Us - Kiss (hell, almost anything by Kiss)
Anything by Metallica post-black album. (And the black album was borderline.)
Look What the Cat Dragged In - Poison
    Anything by Limp Bizkit

Oh, just saw the rule on must listen to occasionally. Haven't heard Poison in years. The rest I'm forced to listen to every now and again.

I cant believe you listed songs by queen among the worst songs ever, bohemian rhapsody is one of the greatest songs ever made, and metallica are pretty decent, and limp bizkit arnt the worst.
Thats kinda stupid, why would i intentionally listen to a song that is positively one of the worst ever made?
    My list:
Anything by westlife, boyzone, take that, east 17, spice girls and any other boy/girl band like them.
Anything by britney(im a slut) spears.
    Anything by justin timberlake.
Bob the builder and numerous other christmas number ones.
    DJ otzi - hey baby.
Bob the builders the worst, or the teletubbies or tweenies or fast food rockers.

good one, sarge. 'Party all the time' is right up there with Don Johnson's 'Heartbeat' in the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame

I wanna be a Lifeguard by Blotto.

Seriously crappy. I've got more, but that's the only one I can think of that I'd actually listen to intentially.

I was at the gym yesterday and this spinning class had some pretty awful stuff blasting. Nothing more so than a "Who let the dogs out" techno mix. You haven't heard awful until you've heard that.

All worthless modernists, that would include 99% of all popular music. The most abominable are those that take classical music and throw techno or hip-hop beats over it. They neglect the significance of the work and create the most hideous hybrids. Death to false neo-Jazz/Muzak as well.
