The crescent moon and star was adopted by the Ottomans after the founder of the Empire, Osman, had a dream of the symbol stretching from one end of the Earth to the other. He took it as a good omen, and made the symbol official.

Nowadays, it represents two different things: first, the crescent moon is a sign of new beginnings, and the star guides the follower. An alternative is, the star represent's Islam's five pillars.

Either way, it has nothing to do with Wiccan belief.

Ok, you try to make people aware of the political dialectic that drives some proportion of sentiment in the Islamic community whenever you feel like doing so, and I will try to talk people out of fearing and hating Islamic people whenever I feel like doing so.

Well, your thrust isn't the opposite of mine, since it's not the people but some of the attitudes I'm opposed to. If I oppose celibacy for priests, am I a Catholic hater? Perhaps we can just continue as a sort of complementarity.

The pentacle could very well be in the flag.

It's true. The Ottomans made Stalin and Hitler torture those innocent people at Gitmo in the name of Communism and Fascism, which is based entirely on secularism, humanism, atheism, Bushism, ism-ism. And that's why Muslims believe in witchcraft.

You see, it's so easy to muddle when you wordsmith it like SAM.

the pentacle requires it to have a circle that touches all 5 points and the 5 pointed star was put on the ottaman flag in the 1800's while wicca was founded or rediscovered in 1917 give or take a couple years.

    Wicca=witchcraft. Same nonsense, different name.

It matters not what the pentacle "requires."

    Ok.

"While a solid five-pointed star is found on many flags, the pentagram is relatively rare. It appears on two national flags, those of Ethiopia and Morocco and in some coats of arms.

According to Ivan Sache, on the Moroccan flags, the pentagram represents the link between God and the nation.[20] It is also possible that both flags use the pentagram as a symbol of King Solomon (see Seal of Solomon), the archetypal wise king of Jewish, Christian and Muslim lore."

Wait, has this discussion moved on from the fact that a brutal, dictatorial, US supported regime wanted to commit an unislamic act to something else?

..."a brutal, dictatorial, US supported regime".

    You mean...like Iran?

Is this Iran after "liberation" or before? How has "liberation" worked out in the ME in general?

You reap what you sow. The US backed Khomeneism and nurtured it to counter the rising "threat" of socialism. This is what you get then

Ah - blaming ends on means. Reaping.

Does the same rule apply to the Barbary issue?

Barbary pirates? Those "Christians" who converted to "Muslims" when the situation suited them? Pirates?

    A fine excuse.

You may recall their statement to the Continental Congress about how their religion demanded they attack non-muslims and make slaves of them. Perhaps they were merely confused?
