Why Microsoft should be banned from operation in the US

    Another reason I hate Microsoft:

The following email advice has just been dispatched to Microsoft:

A very simple suggestion: As a friend has received a .pdf from a business associate, I would like to download it. Please make your "download file" option actually work. At present, it does not, and I'm quite sick of Microsoft's cross-platform hatred. Fix your damn product please. This sort of thing is exactly why I despise Microsoft products. Clicking "Download File" should start the process of downloading a file, not running in password-protected circles that just launch the Hotmail front page. Believe me ... people will hear about this aspect of Microsoft's poor product quality. I mean, how can you guys be trusted with an operating system if you can't even pull off a website? Please fix your Hotmail file downloads so that people can at least have the assurance that Microsoft can do something (anything) correctly, and not everything your company touches turns to rot.

Look ... a company as pathetic as Microsoft, as hateful as Microsoft, and is led by people who don't believe in human beings at all should not be allowed to operate in this country. Think about it: Microsoft is running the US government, but they can't make files download properly.

Yeah ... where do you want to go today? Hopefully, Microsoft isn't involved in taking you there.

I'm sick and tired of people pretending Mircrosoft is something it isn't. They're fucking criminals. Bill Gates should be in prison for the rest of his life for being a lying piece of shit.

    • Can't serve online video
    • Can't serve simple email
    • Can't design a working web browser
    • Doesn't care about your user-experience
    • Thinks of you not as human but as someone inconveniently in possession of moneys that are rightfully theirs.

--so why would you want them running the system at your hospital, or in your government? Geez, can you imagine when you can't call 911 because you have a Unix machine in the house?

Write your congressperson, demand that Bill Gates be hauled before Congress for fraud, demand that he be hauled before a court for theft.

Microsoft is evil. Bill Gates deserves to burn in hell.

Actually those who purchase MS products are as much to blame for without their support MS wouldn't be around any longer!

    what choice do you have?

all the games only run on windows
  8. cosmictraveler Be kind to yourself always. Valued Senior Member

I ment that "in the beginning" when there was a choice, those went with MS and not Apple.

Argh, I hate windows. It always crashes, it is damn slow and it is ugly!
And it has tons of useless shit built in. It takes me hours to get it all deleted.

I just reinstalled windows recently, so I have to make it faster again...
Tell me, why has windows dozens of empty folders? Why do you get a new spyware, trojan or virus everytime you access the internet with microsofts Internet Explorer? Why can´t you gain control over the processes that are running? And why is windows stuffed with possibilities to spy on the user?

Damn this shit! But do I have a choice? No, because I cannot play games on Linux, because most of the released software is for windows...

damn... excuse me, I have to modulate my windows a bit more.......
  10. thefountainhed Fully Realized Valued Senior Member

LMAO. I cannot believe the basis of this thread. That an option which works perfectly fine on my pc does not work on another's and thereby micorosft is bla bla bla....

Microsoft is a coorporation, a very succssful coorporation. So successful that it is hated. I am a bloody computer/electrical engineer and I can tell you that Micorosoft, irregardless of the numerous nonsense you hear, actually make some of the best software on earth.

The main problem with micorsoft software is their perpetual wish to make more from the customer by knowing the customer(cookies, etyc etc etc)....
But any fool who surfs the web more than 3 hours a day should know privacy protection shit.

As to redirecting to affiliated pages, etc... give me a break. It's like a discount ticket for pizza hut from blockbuster on a movie rental.

    It's business.

There is a difference between something working on one platform and not another and Microsoft's repeated attempts to make something so basic inaccessible.

It's like being refused gasoline because you drive a car that works. ("Oh ... it's not a gas-guzzling, unsafe, road-consuming SUV ... we refuse to sell you gasoline.")

Like many engineers I know in the field, you seem to have lost your sense of perspective: software should work. It should not be programmed to not work in such a manner.

What is actually important about news media? Theories of information distribution, or Microsoft's profit margin? Why do we use computers at all? To make our lives better/easier/more efficient/more productive, or for the benefit of Microsoft's profit margin? Why do you get out of bed in the morning? Because it's what you do, or for the benefit of Microsoft's profit margin?

What the hell are you talking about, anyway? It's like going into the store with the coupon, giving them the coupon and your money (except that Hotmail is free) and being given not a pizza, but another coupon. All you ever do is walk into the store and get a coupon, and you're never allowed to redeem the coupon and finish the transaction you've initiated.

Are you a human being? Not to Microsoft. You're merely an annoyance that inconveniently possesses money that is rightfully Microsoft's. Gates' nightmare is a successful corporation because it has redefined a business paradigm: people now exist for the benefit of corporate entities, and nobody pretends otherwise these days.

    It is the doux commerce!
  12. thefountainhed Fully Realized Valued Senior Member

That's also business. I find that mac users bitch a lot about platform issues, but I see Apple as the biggets offender.

Nah, it's like diesel for the truck and regular for the SUV.

Ideally, you are of course correct, but then how do companies make money by licensing? With respect to software working, I must say that after having created and test software, I'm quite satisfied with software performing my most importants. Realize, home based solutions that microsoft creates are mostly for the dumb masses.

You remind of myself at 20. 3 years later, I no longer believe such nonsense. Microsoft does not limit your access to new media. Firstly from my perspective, certainly my satisfiication should come to fore, but to expect the company to think in like manner is simply naive. They make a product, you want that product as it is the most efficient, and therefore you buy.

I for one hate microsoft, but not because of their ineptness as a software maker, no no. I hate them because they exercise a monopoly and I hate all monopolies. Needless to say, I'm quite certain my company would behave in like manner as microsoft were I in their position.

You get redirected because they are an affiliate.

LMAO. To my knowledge, this has always been the purpose of big business. It's capitalism and I have no qualms. I would easily complain about govts....

I will join in this Microsoft bashing thread tomorrow but it is late.

I shall leave you with this piece on information. The software business is the only business in the world where it is legal for them to release a product that is either incomplete or does not do as it says it does.

I feel that it's my computer so I should be able to choose what the hell goes on with it. And no I do not want you to shutdown after installing that...STOP....STOP...NOOOOOOO!!!
  14. Dreamwalker Whatever Valued Senior Member

I agree with you Thor, on all points... damn, 2 AM when did it get so late? Well, let me see if windows actually shuts down...
  15. thefountainhed Fully Realized Valued Senior Member

Please tell me a micrisoft product that does not do exactly what it advertises.

A lot of people hate microsoft as a cultural trend without really understanding why.

Certainly Windows does crash a lot and allows for much less control, but only morons, lazies, or those simply using Windows because of product variety actually use it in an evironment where stability is needed.

It's like a bloody nascar racer using a camry and bitching because it does not run quite as well. Give me a bloody break!

You want to successfully use windows?

    get zone alarm.
    get spybot.
delete all user process except explorer and said.
    do not use ie.

4 simple steps and all will be well.

Now think about how to become as rich as bill.
  16. Thor "Pfft, Rebel scum!" Valued Senior Member

I think all Microsoft products don't do as they advertise. They do a little but to an extent. I can't remember the last time my XP was easy to use like they said. But I can use it albeit with a little less hair than I started off with.

And as for your suggestions...Zone Alarm is a pretty poor firewall. Give Kerio a whirl.

Get Spybot AND Adaware. Use them both to get rid of all ad and spyware.

And instead of not using IE, steer clear of all MS products altogether. Instead of WMP, use Quintessential. Instead of MSN Messenger, use Trillian. Just find alternatives to the MS franchise.

I'd never advertise the use of MSN messenger to anyone who knows how to use a computer...but that is essentailly the point. Why was/is AOL so bloody popular?

Nah, zone alarm is pretty good. BTW, Adaware is adware. I checked.

"Easy" is relative, but I can say the windows OS are by far the easiest to use.

You mjust understand that almost all software will work well with machines designed to work for that software.

You seriously expect an OS to do process, memory, io, etc management along with othe useless nonsense like seamless software install, hardware install, etc without as much as point and click and still do perfectly well on the regular pc?

    Yea, pigs fucking fly

First off, if you are buying computers with or just plain purchasing any version of window$ past 2000 Pro you need your head checked. I run window$ 98 SE on my system and have zero problems. 2000 Pro is pretty good but it is incompatible with a lot of older software so I removed it.

By the way, window$ xp is just windows 2000 with a facelift if you haven't been told yet. Nice new OS isn't it? More resource hungry than ever! Turn off all those pretty AA screens and text that M$ likes to wow you with and it becomes a little more resource friendly.

My main complaint with Micro$hit, and the reason I will never buy another version of window$, is the liscensing. They claim my computer has more rights than I do. Granted, this is not anything new, since almost all software has a similar liscence. But, it was Micro$hit that started that. What I paid $200 for this OS and I can't put it on both my computers???

Personally I use window$ just to play my old games on and the older I get the less I play them so eventually they will get tossed... I prefer my couch and 32" tv connected to a PS2... much more comfy and the games I like are not on the PC anyway.

If I plan to do anything serious on my computer, I boot to Linux. This is where I use business apps, exclusively.

Can you blame them? A new Apple box will cost you $5000 bucks. A bit much for surfing the internet and looking at porn, don't you think?

And Apple is just as bad as Microsoft. They have made their platform a cult. Impossible (nearly) to build your own apple box. I think that they're a bit more open source as to some of their software, but a far cry from the early Apple II's where you got the source code for the rom included with the computer. And, just go to the apple store for your ram, sure it costs twice as much as ram from anywhere else, but it's got the air of apple wholesomeness about it. All hail the great apple.

Linux is the solution, but it's so rough and complicated that the average home user can't figure out how to install the simplest software on linux.
  21. Persol I am the great and mighty Zo. Registered Senior Member

    How ya figure?
I've used MS products that can do these things. Granted they are not the best, but that isn't the crime. If you don't like that software, plenty of others are available.
Compared to who? Apple is the only other player who you could be talking about. Linux's 'user experience' consists of a hammer and your hand. Try to do anything beyond basic and the GUI is no help at all. Fine for people with time, bad for everyone else.
    Just like EVERY OTHER business.
Wait, and this is Microsoft's problem/fault? Buy a console, a mac, a GameBoy, whatever. You have a choice... you're just upset that you don't like the best choice you have.

On a side note...we need to round up the jerks responsible for all the pop-ups and ship them off to another planet before we all go mad.

I haven't had this issue with my windows xp. Actually, I haven't encountered a single problem with my windows so far. I guess I'm lucky.
