Presumably you're looking at and remembering that hydrogen is highly flammable. It is: in an oxygen atmosphere. When the entire atmosphere is hydrogen then all it'll do is extinguish the match. Remember that THREE things are required for a fire: heat, oxygen and a combustible material. A match on Jupiter would only have two of those...
. then we would have a second sun, and it want be a good idea, Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! maybe, i don't know
The main reason Jupiter isn't a sun or didn't become a sun is because it just isn't big enough even at its great size. It must weigh so much before a fusion reaction can ever take place and it isn't close.
It's not massive enough. But I think it's close though. [Edit] Apparently it's not close at all. See quote below:
there is a critical mass a stellar object must achieve before a nuclear fusion can begin. Jupiter has not achieved this mass. Its called Jeans Mass.
From what i heard about the woman you run with.. you have a thing for Jeans Mass .. the more Mass in the Jeans the better your odds for fusion
does not satisfy my needs thou, but can I change the physics of self to the point that Jeans Mass value is lowered?
