So, beyond the superficial quotes and proverbs, why is it wrong to discriminate? Is it really bad for society, or is it just the trend of the times?

    [There you go Schleeb]

It isn't. And even if it was we can't entirely stop it. Every choice we make is discriminatory.

    Maybe you should expand.

It's the very meaning of the word "choice".

Ex. If you think only white guys can play basketball, do you have the right to loose your ass?

    I'm off track, as always.

No. It's a forum, you can debate in several places at once.

Oh... and Schleeb-- your queries were quite on the mark, just in the wrong place. I wasn't pissed, and I truly started this thread because I thought it appropriate.

If it's wrong to discriminate and it's against the law, then why to a plethora of establishments post signs similar to:
We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone at anytime for any reason.

Some people are naturally inferior and its only the do-gooder liberals that keep us from pointing out their innate inferiority

Why should you be respectful of others? Should you respect all others?

I'd think that being in any society one should be respectful of those around

them. It shows that you have self control and dignity.

Humans, all of us, discriminate in almost everything that we do and say, almost every single minute of every single day. It's natural to be selective .....in food, drink, homes, parties, friends, dates, cars, ...... All of that is discrimination.

If some people don't like to associate with blacks or whatever, then sure it's discrimination, but it's not any different to not wanting to associate with people who are, say, sports fanatics or heavy drinkers or ...whatever.

No, there's nothing wrong with discrimination ...we do it every day in thousands of ways.

Why, ...sure! The next time some old guy wants to take your young daughter for a ride in his car, you should respect him and let him take her for a nice ride.

And if you catch your girlfriend or wife fuckin' another man, you should respect their right to enjoy themselves.

Fundamentally it is "us" homo sapiens VS "everything else". There is nothing that can be done about prejudices, we ALL have them. As long as people are "held back" because of how they "look" or a preconceived perception interferes with their actual potential, we all suffer.

Naw, that's just a silly-assed rumor that's spread by the mamby-pamby, doo-gooder liberals. Just plain ol' liberal propaganda bullshit.

Nope. "Society" must include all people or it will fail. The rules that govern how a person can earn a living, conduct themselves in commerce, must be the same for ALL. I know it's not, but it needs to be for "society"(we are all in this together?) to survive.

We are not talking about whom each individual decides to invite to the family barbecue and fuck on the picnic table. We are talking about the get to the back of the bus bullshit, or the we don't hire niggers bullshit.

For the record I think the so-called "equal opportunity" or "affirmative action" is a new kind of discrimination. I have personally experienced it. It is also wrong. However it is also natural as people always take any reform too far. Hopefully it will settle down, even out and we can coexist until the next exodus.

That is certainly our past, but if it is our future then we are at the limits of our advancement.

Not really, it is a pointless waste of energy which makes it evolutionarily undesirable. Animals never fight where they can cooperate.

And we are biologically conditioned to go for the MHC molecules that most differ from ours. Which makes discrimination even more a learned behaviour rather than a natural one.
