What advantage is gained by remembering a smell from childhood better than a visual memory of the same time period?

being able to smell rotten vs good food was necessary for survival. Isn't that why pregnant women have such strong reactions to some smells?

One paper by one person suggesting something does not make it true ...even if it's posted on the Internet. Or do you believe everything that you read on the Internet?

Part of the reason may be because it is the only sense that doesnt go through the thalamus just directly to the smell reception error in your brain..No switchboard, just a direct connect = stronger signal=more lasting impression

What kind of a question is that? Do you remember smells from your childhood and if so were they ones you created out your ass?

I remember the smell of my elementary school lunch room, but only if I smell something like it, I associate it instantly

Right. Now why would that be the case? What good is it for you to remember something from your childhood?
