I agree F = G x m1m2/r^2 is rubbish. Like Newton and Einstein. Glad we're on the same page. Rocket planes I meant to say. Are you saying that astronauts and cosmonauts do not experience weightlessness?
No your comment about gavity making heavier than air flight impossible was rubbish. Wong again aren't you? Rocket planes were also built and flown before the V2 was developed. No, I'm saying that your comment "the falsification of universal gravitation" is rubbish - "weightlessness" is entirely in accord with gravitational theory.
Why did gravitational physicists like Lord Kelvin say that according to F = G x m1m2/r^2 heavier than air flying machines are impossible? Source? How so?
Kelvin wasn't a gravitational physicist. And why did he say it? Because he made a mistake, maybe? You know, like the guy that stated railways were a waste of time because it would be impossible to breathe at speeds above 20 mph. Some people just get it wrong now and again. Apart from decades of reading aviation technology and history? Try Opel Rakete for one, of the top of my head. Or Lippisch Ente, or Bereznyak-Isayev BI-1 Because the theory states that the strength of gravity falls off with distance for one thing.
Why did Lord Kelvin reject gravitation? Like Newton and Einstein. What's that? What are those? At what distance from the Earth does the "law" of universal gravitation cease to operate?
Did he? Any evidence for that? Evidence? Examples of rocket planes - all pre-V-2 development. Getting better at making mistakes aren't you? It doesn't "cease to operate".
You're the one who made the claim. Can you link me? I confess my ignorance. So why do astronauts and cosmonauts experience weightlessness and zero gravity?
Wrong again. Only if I Googled, same as you could do. I did say I'm going from decades of my own reading. So you missed the bit about about the strength of gravity falling off with distance?
You said Lord Kelvin wasn't a gravitational physicist. So why do you think Lord Kelvin didn't believe in gravitation?
They are experiencing gravity, they are in a continuous state of falling. At orbital speed you're falling toward the earth at the same rate the curvature of the earth is falling away.
Weightlessness is not the same as being in 0g. Weightlessness can be experienced in an airplane. The famous Vomit Comet ride is used in training astronauts. At the altitude of the ISS the gravity is still 90% of what we experience on Earth. I have no idea Sophergeo where you get the notion that a force formula predicts that heavier than air flying machines are impossible. The formula tells us how one force on a plane behaves.
Nicely misinterpreted. Kelvin wasn't a gravitational physicist in the same way he wasn't a plasma physicist - gravitational physics didn't exist as a separate discipline then. You used sloppy terminology and I corrected you.
Why did Lord Kelvin say heavier than air flying machines are impossible? Because he believed F = G x m1m2/r^2.
That proves that the hypothesis of gravitation is religion and not science. According to Karl Popper a theory can only be scientific if it is prepared in advance to say what would falsify it. Religion: "...lest the systems of the fixed stars should, by their gravity, fall on each other, he [God] hath placed those systems at immense distances from one another." -- Isaac Newton, mathematician, 1687 Everything. F = G x m1m2/r^2 doesn't describe anything in the known universe. The moon does not fall to the Earth at 9.8 meters per second squared but rather falls away from the Earth at 3.8 cm per year. And ozone which is heavier than oxygen defies gravity. And clouds defy gravity. All the chemical compounds and elements in the atmosphere defy gravity.
No...it proves I'm an alcoholic computer tech who doesn't know enough on the subject to give a detailed example. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
