That's a mighty assumption you've got going there. And not relevent. But just in case: The Great Wall of China can be seen from space apparently...

Another mighty assumption. Or is it a hope?

    And there goes another one.
That seed may grow into a tree; and spread its own seed; which in turn may spread other seeds thus saving the world from death by greenhouse gases. Or it may do something entirely different. Like feed hungry people. Or end up in an alien seed museum.

Life's full of them, don't you know? You don't always hear what you want to.

And let's finish with another assumption for good measure to which I would respond 'so what' if something is temporary? Did it or did it not matter, still?

Meh, the universe will become dead and cold...
And the Great Wall visibility is a myth

    Death of the universe...

Pfft, okay, when you said "seed" I thought you meant for a flower not a tree...
And those people (and aliens) will fade eventually.

It's not a case of that, so much as I assumed* there was - as stated - a "real" answer.
Or even one I hadn't thought of.

Only at the time, to those concerned (plus maybe a few more along the way/ down the years).
    But in the end...

    * Assumed inasmuch as I didn't give myself enough credit

You could start here, for example.

    Gaah, horrible film.
I regret every second spent watching that.
    Self-indulgent nonsense.

I didn't say it matters because that's how humans are built. I said how humans are built makes them think it matters.

I hope so since it's in space.

Just that scene I linked to - did you listen to what is said?

Yup, twice: and my response is "so that's what he claims he felt".
A piece of litter caught in a fairly intriguing air flow pattern and he extrapolates that into a "benevolent force that's watching out for him"?
    Mysticism, self-centredness, speculation.

    How about non-sequiturs?

    Quite.

    Now go away.

How do you know it was merely 'mysticism, self-centredness, speculation'?

Because what he saw was a plastic bag blowing in the wind, and he extrapolated that, somehow, to a claim of a benevolent force that's looking out for him.
Somewhat tenuous link (in fact so tenuous I can't even see it).

The bag was for him just a trigger for something more. He wasn't simply extrapolating from a mere bag dancing in the wind.
But I suppose you never had such experiences or that you dismiss them, so let's not pursue this line for the time being.

I've run out of ideas. I can only repeat myself.
I think your OP question is relevant.
I think that in order to answer it, more is necessary than just one thread at an internet forum.
I have suggested asking people who have expertise in the field, like philosophers.
I have suggested to investigate what the question actually entails and how this could affect how it is to be answered.

I think it's up to you to be more proactive.

    And that's appreciated.

    Eeeuw!
    PROactive?
Whatever happened to the word "active"?

I agree. Proactive is a dirty word.
