The sociopathic demagogues with power are authoritarian capitalists, overwhelmingly. Meanwhile, we have the spectacle of people seriously arguing that Americans don't hit their kids enough. These people need to spend more time among actual Americans with kids, methinks. btw: there is a great difference between the powerful and parental hitting for discipline, and fellow members of one's society hitting in reaction to attack of some kind. It's possible that kids these days don't get enough violent feedback from their actions, at the same time as they get hit too much for "discipline". In my general area, the youthful wilding increased dramatically from the mid 50s into the mid 90s, peaked about 15-20 years ago, and has been declining since - noticeably declining of late.
