Which side of the Force do you belong to?

Say SciForums is Star Wars and you have to pick one side to be on, which side would you choose and why?

Star Wars really addresses core human nature and philosophy, I feel. At any rate, I'd choose the dark side for several reasons:

1) liberating
2) powerful
3) development of the ego
4) it empowers you

The dark side is all about the individual. The light side is pathetic, and weak.

Edit: And the dark side operates in a Darwinian manner, i.e, "the strong rule"

Light side. I ultimately am a believer in peace, beauty, order, and justice.

Of course, I have that great shirt that says, "Come to the dark side. We have cookies."

I don't understand why Norse thinks the dark side is about individualism.

 

It is. I would compare the "Sith philosophy" to Nietzsche's philosophy.

 

But they oppressed the people they controlled. Their philosophy amounts to no more than conquer and rule. How does this preserve individualism? Its not as if it were a personal philosophy used for individual strength, its use of a philosophy to subjugate the other.

 

I'm on the light side. I'm too much of a coward to be on the dark side.

 

Their philosophy is about the individual, but of course they understand that nature is "the strong rule". Therefore, in their own rational egoism, of course they will exploit any possible means to fulfill their individualism and individual desire.

It's darwinian thought coupled with rational egoism. Brilliant.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong but Darwin's original posit was that the best adapted species would dominate, not strongest. If we're talking about how the human species has become the dominant species it's because of intelligence, not physical strength. Therefore, if the correct application of Darwin's evolution theory is applied, that being the best adapted species, then in a land of Jedis, the Sith is weak. What is the environmental conditions of Sciforums? Well, apparently intelligent debate, and I see the people who embody Sith-like qualities get a certain amount of praise by a few, but they're not the moderators, nor the majority. The ones who control the administration of these boards are more Jedi-like. Therefore the ability to win in a light sabre fight would translate as the ability to put forth an intelligent, rational, well sourced argument. I don't see that coming from the dark side of the forum.

 

We're arguing semantics. I did not mean physical strength when I said "strongest"; I meant all assets, intelligence, cunning, strength, etc

 

I'd fulfill the prophesy and unify both sides of the force. I don't like the wimpier aspects of the light side of the force, or the ban on marriage (and I would presume, sex). But I sure as hell don't support killing children as Anakin did as his first real act when converting to the dark side. Nor would I want to be a boot licking lackey of the emperor.

I'd be independent. Serving neither the Jedi council or the Sith, except when my and their interests coincided.

You are stronger, and can do whatever you want.
