    I've recently become interested in computer science but have been absolutely stifled by the lack of available resources online. When I simply Google "How does a computer work?" I'm bombarded with a variety of pages detailing the internal hardware of a computer, but I'm looking for something more in depth.

    Specifically, I'm wondering if anyone can provide a (preferably internet) reference regarding computers. I'm trying to find out;
    1. The necessary background in mathematics
    2. The actual electronic processes occurring (I believe a "Logic Gate" is something to this tune)
    3. Hardwares and their functions
    4. How programs and software work (again, explained on the micro rather than macro scale)
    5. Networking (applied information and theoretical)

    I'd be open to any resource that could be provided, because I've been looking for ages and haven't found quite the right stuff.

    Thanks in advance.

    Go to a used college text book store. Get some on computer engineering (I think that's what you want).
