Technically I disagree with that. Using historical record to justify ongoing oppression means that we have not learned from history. I cannot undo what 1/356th of my ancestor did nor can I judge if it was right or wrong for him/her. My values are based on my current social mores and applied to my current co-inhabitants of society. I don't need to support the breakup of the EU in order to oppose injustice to indigenous people in my country.
