Very different, for sure. If we'd had no emotions from the start things would have been very different - co-operation is not precluded, but looking after the sick and hungry would maybe be a no-no depending upon available resources. Wars may be less likely (only maybe). Damn. You've got me thinking about this now. My answer was the obvious one (since rationality would be the result, as I see it). I'm not advocating that everyone get rid of their emotions though... aaargh must think more on this.
You mean like animals who eat their young when food is scarce? Yes that would be a rational decision. And people would be less willing to share resources without quid pro quo; since that would be irrational And starving children would be an ecological burden, since the trade off between their contribution and upkeep would be irrational
I saw all that coming... don't pick on me. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! I'm not advocating it. You asked a question, I answered. The ramifications are (to us as we are) horrible. But if we weren't as we are they wouldn't be. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Civilisation would be hugely different, possibly unrecognisable, and hardly even comprhensible. But, I gave an answer to your question. Maybe I should have said "monsters"
Who knows? Emotions are messy. We might be better off as you said without any guilt, second thoughts or might have beens cluttering up our lives. Perhaps that is the future
Another thing wrong with humans: we focus on the negative and on differences between and within ourselves
