Anything by Marti Jones. I just saw her last week with her husband Don Dixon. She's one of my heartthrobs from the 1980s and I didn't even know she was still performing. Just the two of them, her singing and playing guitar, him doing backup vocals and playing bass. Reminded me of some of the old folk-music shows in the 1960s.

She doesn't look quite like that any more with her granny glasses, but her voice is still perfect.

Scorpions - Send Me An Angel (Accoustic/Live)

The wise man said, just walk this way
To the dawn of the light
The wind will blow, into your face
As the years pass you by
Hear this voice, from deep inside
It's the call of your heart
Close your eyes, and you will find
The way out of the dark

    Here I am
Will you send me an angel?
    Here I am
In the land of the morning star

The wise man said, just find your place
In the eye of the storm
Seek the roses along the way
    Just beware of the thorns

    Here I am
Will you send me an angel?
    Here I am
In the land of the morning star

The wise man said, just raise your hand
And reach out for the spell
Find the door, to the promised land
    Just believe in yourself
Hear this voice, from deep inside
It's the call of your heart
Close your eyes, and you will find
The way out of the dark

    Here I am
Will you send me an angel?
    Here I am
In the land of the morning star
    Here I am
Will you send me an angel?
    Here I am
In the land of the morning star

    ''Guiltiness''

    Guiltiness (talkin' 'bout guiltiness)
Pressed on their conscience. Oh yeah.
And they live their lives (they live their lives)
    On false pretence everyday -
    each and everyday. Yeah.

    These are the big fish
Who always try to eat down the small fish,
    just the small fish.
I tell you what: they would do anything
To materialize their every wish. Oh yeah-eah-eah-eah.

    Say: Woe to the downpressors:
They'll eat the bread of sorrow!
    Woe to the downpressors:
They'll eat the bread of sad tomorrow!
    Woe to the downpressors:
They'll eat the bread of sorrow!
    Oh, yeah-eah! Oh, yeah-eah-eah-eah!

    Guiltiness
Pressed on their conscience. Oh yeah. Oh yeah.
    These are the big fish
Who always try to eat down the small fish,
    just the small fish.

I tell you what: they would do anything
To materialize their every wish. Oh, yeah-eah-eah-eah-eah-eah.

    But: Woe to the downpressors:
They'll eat the bread of sorrow!
    Woe to the downpressors:
They'll eat the bread of sad tomorrow!
    Woe to the downpressors:
They'll eat the bread of sad tomorrow!
    Oh, yeah-eah! Oh yeah-e-e-e-e-e!

    Guiltiness. Oh yeah. Ah!
They'll eat the bread of sorrow everyday.

    The Black Ghosts: Full Moon

When the thorn bush turns white that's when I'll come home
I am going out to see what I can sow
    And I don't know where I'll go and I don't know what I'll see
But I'll try not to bring it back home with me

Like the morning sun your eyes will follow me
As you watch me wander, curse the powers that be
'Cause all I want is here and now but it's already been and gone
Our intentions always last that bit too long

Far far away, no voices sounding
No one around me and you're still there
Far far away, no choices passing
No time confounds me and you're still there

In the full moon's light I listen to the stream
And in between the silence hear you calling me
    But I don't know where I am and I don't trust who I've been
But if I come home how will I ever leave?

Written, arranged, and lead vocal by Dennis DeYoung. Even rock stars struggle with faith.

Styx - Show Me The Way

Every night I say a prayer, in the hopes that there's a heaven
And everyday I'm more confused, as the saints turn into sinners
All the heroes and legends I knew as a child, have fallen to idols of clay
And I feel this empty place inside, so afraid, that I've lost my faith...

Show me the way! Show me the way!
Take me tonight to the river and wash my illusions away
    Please show me the way!

And as I slowly drift to sleep, for a moment, dreams are sacred
I close my eyes and know there's peace, in a world so filled with hatred
That I wake up each morning and turn on the news, to find we've so far to go
And I keep on hoping for a sign, so afraid, I just won't know...

Show me the way! Show me the way!
Bring me tonight to the mountain and take my confusion away
    And show me the way!

And if I see your light, should I believe?
Tell me how will I know?

Show me the way! Show me the way!
Take me tonight to the river and wash my illusions away
Show me the way! Show me the way!
Give me the strength and the courage to believe that I'll get there someday
And please show me the way!

Every night I say a prayer, in the hopes that there's a heaven

    Foreigner - Star Rider

I stole a ride, on a passing star
Not knowing where I was going, how near or how far
Through years of light, lands of future and past
Until the heavenly gates, were sighted at last

Star rider, take me to the stars
Star rider, show me where you are

Northern lights flashed by, and then they were gone
And as old stars would die, so the new ones were born
And ever on I sailed, celestial ways
And in the light of my years, shone the rest of my days
Speed increasing, all control is in the hands of those who know
Will they help us grow, to one day be star riders?

Star rider, show me where you are
Star rider, take me to the stars

Speed increasing all control is in the hands of those who know
Will they help us grow, to one day be star riders?

Oh nice, thanks! I thought I was the only Foreigner fan who even remembers that song, much less likes it. It's a little off their beaten path: Head Knocker, Jukebox Hero, Feels Like The First Time, etc.

It's an homage to the spacey music that was going out of style as they achieved stardom. Lordy I sure miss that stuff! I've worn out Jefferson Starship's "Dragon Fly," Nektar's "Recycled," Genesis's "Trick Of The Tail," Gentle Giant's "Free Hand" and Chris Squire's "Fish Out Of Water."
