Whatever happened to the Nova Class starship as discribed in TNG Tech Manual? One of the Nova variants does look a little like Voyager, but the class never appeared.
    Any ideas?

I don't have the manual and I've never heard of a 'nova.'

But many things in trek remain to be unexplained, like why starfleet constantly changes its uniforms.

You have a HELL of a memory. I had to go look it up, and you are on the mark. Out of the Voyager series:

    U.S.S. Equinox NCC-72381

    Peace.

Just to refresh my memory, was Equinox the ship withthe Romulans on or the one pursued by 'spirits' ?

Wait till your my age, your memory will something or other.

But the picure of the Equinox above bears no resemblance to any of the published designs for the Nova class.

Infact, the DS9 tech manual shows a diagram almost identical to the one above as the prototype Defiant class. (The design of the defiant class was modified to allow quicker production).

It was a two-part, season-ending, cliff-hanger. Voyager finds the Equinox also lost in the Delta Quadrant, and helps protect it from attacks by creatures from another spatial realm. Turns out they violated the Prime Directive and Janeway strips him of his command and confines him to quarters -- BUT -- he and his crew escape with The Doctor and Seven of Nine as hostages aboard their ship.

I did not see part two.

    Peace.

    I did!

The captain of the Equinox has to sacrifice himself and the qrew join Voyager.
The 'spirits' leave Voyager alone then.

Also remember that the U.S.S. Rhode Island (Captain Harry Kim) in the series finaly in the alternate future was a nova class starship.

Also, I found an awesome photo of the U.S.S. Equinox that I want for my desktop background. I just can't seem to refind it now that I"m back on my computer. It was large enough to fill the whole background. If it is found please post a reply with a web address. TY!
