What time period would you have preferred to live in?

A bleak derelict planet, its natural resources exhausted, its cities crumbling, inhabited by barbarian scavengers dimly remembering electricity, flying machines, movies . . .

I was thinking of being like a scavenger type of a mechanic astronaut engineer, I travel on my crumbling spaceship all over these dusty planets worn out from apocalyptic natural disasters and wars and scavenge what is left to repair my ship and gather food as well as do some research on who lived on those planets/stations...and than when at night I sit on the brink of this 200 year old spaceship that half sank inside this deep ocean, and I watch the two suns (one dwarf blue the other is regular white) set behind the rim of the ocean...and it is beautiful.

 

What do you imagine the future in 200 years will be like?

and ... if you and I really wanted to live in future 200 years from now, would you devote your 10-20 years to building a spaceship which would travel close to speed of light so that we can travel into the future, based on Einstein theory of relativity?

 

Well, I suspect that if we go too far in the future there many not be any humans left and thing may be too different. Imagine if you are a human but you are kind like a monkey to the people and things living in the far future. So, 200 years should take us over the aging and dieing hump (aka I think we will not die of aging) but still keep us within a time where there are humans as we think of humans. Then we can watch the next millenia unfold and evolve with it... that could be fun. Perhaps if we missed the good old days we'd create a pretend 21st century and wipe our memory of the future and live in this pretend 2008 as a human again ... maybe we are?

note: I assumed that we'd still be "us" as in transported to the past or future.

 

I want the future. Something like Star Trek or Dune [Heretics/Chapterhouse era] would do nicely, thank you!
