Loaded a freezer for a guy headed south - was given its contents if I wanted them (not much). There were two packages of bear steak, bow shot, a couple years old - two of the best meals I ever had. Nothing fancy - slow roast directly from frozen and serve, everything on the side.

But then I've been known to eat road kill, if I know its provenance.

I mistrust all lead shot meat - the bullet sheds high velocity fragments and dust on impact, they are very small and travel a lot farther than most hunters seem to realize.

I use a percussion cap Hawken .50 black powder rifle or a recurve bow, and I've gotten more groceries with the bow than the rifle, to be honest. (stalking, not stand hunting)

    it does.

Holy crap but that looks good! I wonder how it would taste with buffalo...

in the US, it depends on the state and time of year. In my area, the hunting of bear is legal but tightly controlled because of the attempt to repopulate specific areas with bear (and mountain lion).

they are only dangerous to those who are ignorant of how they work, really, just like a table saw or a car.
they are definitely a LOT of fun to shoot, though!

    any good recipes?

    freezing help tenderize ?
does it do anything to the lacktic acid content ?
im not a big fan of really gamey meat

having had many close calls as a child playing with fire works, its pure luck i still have all my fingers.
as a young adult was watching a friend hold a large roman candle,
the tube had some malfunction and he had been holding too tight
it fired an explosive ball out between his 1st and 2nd finger
pure luck it didn't go off a center meter higher or lower and taken off his finger.
seen various people caught on fire and helped put them out etc ...

    not a very pleasant thing

I never had an opportunity to play with fireworks as a kid. not until I was about 17 or so. fireworks have never really interested me, tbh
