    correct lol

yep, done. some of the pussy hand shakes i received annoyed me, and i think they were screwing with me for the personal interview, they had my chair sidewards and said 'some people find it intimidating facing a panel of interviewers, so we want you to sit in the chair, not facing us, and answer our questions', so i said 'i'm fine talking face to face'. so yeah eye contact tick. is that a common technique, screwing with a person to see them under pressure? its more likely they were just bored, they were all around 25 and it was 4 hours of interviewing.

k this would have been quite useful, because they asked if i have any questions and i basically said 'nope, i'm comfortable i know everything i need to know. its a normal job, you show up to your shifts and work". it would have been cool to have thrown a few questions for the reasons you outlined, though i'm hoping i managed to demonstrate those qualities at other times. looking back i could have said 'i'm confident i know everything i need to know to begin working'.

thanks for all the advice, i'll use it in the future.

I totally agree. But these aren't "bullshit questions". They are legitimate inquiries. If you spend a few days researching a company, even the biggest idiot will have a few points of curiosity. Honesty, peppered with a bit of exaggeration or "spin" is always the best answer. . . and question.

I'll tell it to you like I tell it to a lot of people who are "technicals" and not "socials": The vast majority of your job is delivery. A minority of what you do is the actual product. This applies the same for Engineers, Inventors, Chefs and Surgeons. People who can't find a way to deliver their "widget" in a way that makes people feel good about themselves are doomed to spend the rest of their lives in cubicles or broom closets. While there's nothing wrong with that if that's all you want; the fact is, that's not what most of us want.

People suck. I hate people. But most people don't know that. Delivery and packaging is everything. Do you really think that wearing a business suit and having a cool demeanor makes me a good manager? No. But it sure helps when/if I'm looking for a jobs as one! Take it from a guy who had ZERO skills and patience for the first 7 years of his adult life: find a way to make those around you feel good about themselves. You'll always be remembered and you will stand a better chance at getting promoted than anybody else. Skills and results be damned. Corporations are just as emotional as your pubescent little sister. They want to feel good and look good doing it. It's why attractive, friendly people get promoted more than skilled, obeise people.

Does it make it right? No. Not always. But who do you want serving you? The rude fat chick or the friendly pretty one? More importantly, which one do you want to be? The skinny, socially inept twerp who retires as as cog in a cubicle, or the healthy, alpha who retires from a position of comfort?

Wealth is not, nor should be the goal. Personal success should be. 99% of the time, personal success comes from setting goals, toning down your extreme side, and hard work. No ass-kissing required.

The item that best represents me would be my backpack because I carry it all the time.

It really depends on the interviewer.
I've been on interviews during which I could tell a joke and even curse (and got the job) and ones during which a joke of any kind woudl have fallen flat.
Interviewers are people and respind differently to different things. You have to feel them out.

    Very true.

I cringe at the thought of ever using off-color language, though. But, hey, you know your situation better than me. And aren't you like a VP, or something? Jerk. I'm two rungs away from that title. I want it so bad I can taste it.

cool, you got string's tick of approval too. i thought i'd said "shit" (as in stuff) after i handed my resume in, that it might have just slipped out but couldn't remember whether i had or not. laughed at myself for that a bit.

frequency of use doesn't mean it represents you though. the most accurate analogy i could use for my backpack is "its full of shit too".

    Yeah.
I've been a VP for about two years and getting pissed off that I haven't made SVP yet.
And I am doing THIS at work. LOL

i got the job! i told them i'd be a little busy today, and to ring me between 12 and 5, as they said they would ring everyone today, and so having received no call by 5 i was feeling pretty pesimistic, but then they rang at 7, screwed with me - "how do you think you went" and then told me i got the job.

i was barely able to maintain the conversation, which required me to say 'yes' and 'excellent' and 'yeah i can get there', whilst trying to remember 'come to the store at monday at 3:30' (and i actually have a good memory). but yeah, am pretty happy with myself. thanks again for the help everyone.

edit: just realised, having a job means having to work. what have i done lol?

kira obviously invested her time and passion in making it, that says a lot about her and her attentiveness for you. Perhaps even more than that.
