Relax. I'm only kiddin' innit. And yet, in another way, I'm not. The Beatles broke America, caused riots everywhere they went, to the extent that they had to stop touring very early on in their careers (you know - Beatlemania?), invented psychedelia, experimented with their sound in a way that was previously unheard of, constantly pushing their own musical barriers. They went from naive, loveable mop-tops to tripped-out hippies to bitter, burned-out courtroom opponents in the space of less than 10 years. They went off to India, seeking enlightenment and shelter from the madness around them, only to return disappointed and disillusioned. Incredible music, incredible band and an incredible story, writ large on a scale that bands today can only dream of. Now tell me: how can I sit still and listen to My Chemical fucking Romance and not compare them to that?
