Awe, you failed at making it dark red. *pst! There's no space between dark and red! *

In all seriousness though, the Weather Report has a pretty good bassist.

    Marilyn Manson!

Weather Report ceased to exist a decade and a half ago and Jaco Pastorius died nearly 20 years ago.

Joy Division was a good band, yes, but whether they were the best, I don't think I could agree.

The early New Order wasn't bad. They did, in my opinion, decline after their first couple of releases.

Kurt Cobain did most of that stuff, except different.

Right - but did he do it before anyone else had even thought of it, in an era where the mere act of growing your hair could make you an enemy of the people?

I have often stated my prediction that Pink Floyd is one of a handful of bands of the rock era that is likely to be remembered and listened to a couple of hundred years from now. "Dark Side of the Moon" is still in the Billboard Top 200 thirty-some years later. They had to pass a special snarky rule to stop having to admit it, just like the bestseller book lists don't have to include the Bible and the Boy Scout manual.

Radiohead is definitely really awesome. So is R.E.M.

I dunno if they qualify as best, but as really sweet rock groups go, they're pretty much at the top of the list.

I like Queen as a candidate for the future. All their major stuff.

    Bohemian Rhapsody
    Innuendo
    The Show Must Go On
The March Of The Black Queen
    Who Wants To Live Forever
    Love Of My Life
    Hammer To Fall
    Under Pressure
    Don't Stop Me Now
    I Want to Break Free

    Can't stop, but must!

Sweet sweet stuff. Nothing to beat them.
