What is Really Meant by "Virtual Particles"?

    Then you have not understood it.

    To risk summarising in a sentence, what this writer is saying is that the term "virtual particle" is unfortunate because what is meant by this term is a disturbance in a QFT field that is not a particle at all, but happens to be modelled in QFT as if it were one.
