mindless meandering in life is a good way to wind up with a dozen vying for supremacy of your sphincter

I hope you will take it as a compliment when I say that the above is facile.

I must decline your invitation. I think it is a dead end for both of us. But if you get something new out of this thread please PM me about it.

Can you promise your arse to God?

I didn't realise that's what they meant by "God is inside us all".
    I feel slightly queasy.
Allah seems like an entirely more savoury deity.

    Is this real?

It's even worse than you imagine. How about the Trinity inside you ?

You don't get choose. Do you, an obvious sinner,. think you can influence your Saviour. Just be glad you are getting three for the price of one.

Myles, you seem to think that "selfishness" necessarily implies careless or
    negligent behavior towards others.

To think that "selfishness" necessarily implies careless or negligent behavior towards others, is wrong.

If I take good care of myself, one of the side effects of this is that others will be spared of my hatred and my ignorance. This is the most one can do for others anyway.

Did Mother Theresa take good care of herself or did she put others first ? How about Father Damien among the leppers ? And Gandhi ?

Can you now tell me how you can think of a small thing without relating it to something larger which I asked you to do in an earlier post when you suggested that our problem is that we only think in opposites.

What vanity! All ye who think ye can defeat the lords's scissors ! As scripture has it " they alone who would enjoy it shall be left stitched"

    What is your point?

Read again. I didn't say we only think in opposites.

Because it involves more assumptions, of which some are related to the supernatural..
At least there is some evidence that consciousness is brought on by the complexity of the brain.

Neurons can works pretty well outside of a body though for some time..
All neurons need to function in the body is the body.

All very well, but this is somewhat outside the discussion though..
Unless you think that we upload our consciousness to everyone that knows us when we die

My view is based on the fact that our senses passively filter reality, the data then is actively filtered by the brain. This means that we do not perceive reality as it really is.. we base everything on this subjective reality we created. Meaning and value are a part of that subjective reality.

A mushroom for example, can mean survival for some and is then valued for these properties. To others it just means a photographic opportunity, it is valued for it's beauty. To some a mushrooms may not mean anything much, it is then is not valued in any particular way.
All of this is completely subjective, as the mushroom objectively has no meaning or value at all.. it just is.

I hope this explains my view somewhat better ?

As for "Existence is a fucking joke, meaning is an illusion, we die eventually..", that was more to attract some attention
