While there are varying degrees of stubborness between each person I would postulate that we are all in a constant state of flux and continue to be until...the livin' end. For example, a man can change in a split second, fighting in a muddy trench on the Western Front after he sees his lifelong friends burst into blood and bones. If he survives the conflict he may be a cold, elderly prune to the rest of his days. A person fighting in a horrific war is an easy piece of evidence to point to when trying to prove that people change, sometimes slowly, sometimes instantly. The guy that mows lawns in my town is a wreck and has been a wreck for decades because his son was killed in Vietnam. Are you the result of your mother being raped by her employer while working as a maid for a wealthy Jewish man or what? I can't possibly imagine what else could foster such animosity!
