So you admit it! Tiassa, a moderator (and hence a role model) on this forum engaged in a personal attack. As Baron would say: "That's not very nice, is it?" Are you going to give him an infraction? Are you going to strip him of his moderator privileges?

Meh, I'm not holding my breath.

Oh, I think you're mature enough to be able to take a little mocking, are you not, mountainhare?

A high official moderator, a statue of eternal insignia of thinking, James R...instigating mocking as an acceptable type of behavior?

That's not my gripe, and you know it! What do you act so obtusely? One moderator (*cough* SAM) gives infractions when I suggest that posters are 'pussies' for thinking that paper cuts hurt, while other moderators look away when I'm called a retard. Funny stuff.

If somebody calls you a retard, hit the "report" button. That's what it is there for.

Please take any further complaints to the Site Feedback forum.

Perhaps that's exactly what some people think about the mentally challenged. So I guess you'd agree with mocking them, James? Or do you think they're somehow special and deserving of special rights?

    Baron Max,
I'm going to be blunt and too the point since I know you absolutely detest any forms of weakness suggested by attempting to be 'cute and fluffy'. Do you suffer a Bi-polar disorder?, as for the most part you tend to take awkward positions that seeming are attractive for you and on occasion you even let the steam blow off a little too loudly.

I'm not asking this as a personal dig, but it would definitely sum up the reason for the majority of your behaviour on sciforums and even your dislike of the Handicapped because you yourself are handicapped.

I'm of course guessing this from your 'Socialite' ways of dealing with people.

    Lucifer's Angel,
What your kid's "Suffer" is mostly humiliation and the awkwardness felt by people coining them with a term or interacting with them differently because of that term. In the long run if you as a good parent (Which I'm sure you are) are supportive enough, you can actually encourage them to go on to lead not just a normal mundane life like anyone else but perhaps further their 'disorders' into unique talents that surpass everyone else.

Just make sure they know you love them or they might turn into Baron Max.

(And Yes I would give myself an infraction or two for the digs at Baron Max, unfortunately I can't do it to myself

The world needs more people like you who guess at things, then spout off about it as if it's true. You'd make a great news reporter!

And those people, Max, are flat-out retarded.

How old are you? Every human being is defective. Oh, it seems like we're immortal and perfectly healthy when we're 18, but you soon find out you're not. You may have a vascular abnormality in your brain just waiting to blow. You might develop MS, or Parkinson's. You might have a stroke and lose the ability to speak or use part of your body.

Would that make you less equal, less deserving of human dignity? A man should be judged by his actions, not by his physical or even mental attributes.

And that's exactly what some people think about those that you call "mentally challenged".

It's okay for you to call some people "retarded", but it's not okay for others to call a few others "retarded"? Huh? Duh? ...LOL!

Sure. But some are more defective than others!

Why? Why can't we judge them in all aspects, including "defective" attributes?

Humans have been judging other humans for gazillions of years and humans have made out just fine. I see no reason to change. If someone is "defective", then he's defective ...hiding ones head in the sand isn't going to change those defects.

Agreed. I'll call a spade a spade and a retard a retard. But Mountainhare was drawing a distinction between "those defectives" and the rest of us human beings. That's crap. Yes, some are more defective than others. But all are defective.

Singling out people with certain defects as unfit seems to me the first step in rounding them up and tossing them in the oven.

If you can't run the 100 metres in under 15 seconds, are you "defective"?
If your IQ is less than 95, are you "defective"?
If you're less than 5 foot 8, or taller than 6 foot 2, are you "defective"?
If you can't read music, are you "defective"?
If your golf handicap is greater than 30 are you "defective"?
If you wear glasses, are you "defective"?
If you only speak one language, are you "defective"?

    What is "defective"?

James, if you don't know what "defective" is or means, then you shouldn't ever call someone "defective", okay? But you shouldn't try to force your own ignorance onto others who do know!

Some famous judge, maybe Supreme Court judge, said, something like ...I can't describe porno, but I know it when I see it.

If you have the thinking ability of a pre-pubescent child...that is defective.

It's one of those things, Max, that you'll understand better when you grow up.

Oh ... right. Well, too bad about that, then.
