Yes. A great movie in which we finally learned the true meaning of Maddona's Like a Virgin.

    FallingSkyward:

I actually found A Clockwork Orange to be barbaric, disgusting, pointless, and stupid. When a movie's -only- redeemable trait is the inclusion of Singing in the Rain and nudity, you know you're in trouble.

The Never Ending Story is a truly fantastic film.

I hated Pi - but loved Requiem for a Dream.

Citizen Kane and What Dreams May Come are excellent films. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is very good (but not great).

The Human Stain was quite excellent.

Crash was surprisingly not so bad, and in fact, was quite the good film.

    Greatest film ever made:

Casablanca. All the stars were in alignment when that diamond was made, hands down. That kind of inspiration is typically reserved for the likes of Bach, Chopin, and Pushkin...not low-budget war movies. It has stood the test of time, and is aging exquisitely. (We shall disregard Mr Turner's sacrilegious colorisation).

My favourite, however (being a somewhat different question), is The Lost Prince, a production of the BBC. It evokes an almost mystical insight into the grandeur, folly, and affections of palace life during the late Edwardian-Great War period. Highly recommended to fellow Romantics:

"I thought I was gonna have to lay you out with this"- Asian liqour store clerk, brandishing a 45mm hand cannon, after being scared by a black guy who poses as a robber. Malibus's Most wanted(comedy).

This one definitely resonates with me, in a way that few films have managed before or since. Watch it now and you wonder what all the fuss was about but it remains to this day the only film to make me literally jump out of my seat with shock (when that severed head floated down the cinema screen).
A timely reminder that this thread isn't called 'Name Some Films That You Quite Like'. A definite on-topic contender.
    Yes indeed.

I don't see movies very often. In fact, whenever people ask "Omigod have you seen [insert movie title here]?!", I say to them, "Remember this rule of thumb: I have not seen [insert movie title here].".

I can't pick the absolute faves of mine, but here are two that are among my faves: Edward Scissorhands and Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain.

I saw Edward Scissorhands sometime around last Halloween. I can say, hands down, it's an absolute fave. I liked the humor, the cinematography, and the plot a whole lot.

It was in my high school French class that I saw the beginning of Amélie. I was literally saying to myself "Fucking wow...", the cinematography was so good. I would love to see the whole thing.

There's a third movie. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. That one was just fucking hilarious.
