I can't quote the post here, or the error won't show up, but have a look at this post by ElectricFetus in the "Do Police have the right To murder" thread, post #34:

    http://www.sciforums.com/threads/do-police-have-a-right-to-murder.158852/page-2#post-3437550

It's in the 3rd paragraph. All of the words are in italics and the spaces have been removed. I tried to quote the post, just to see what was typed, but the sentence there is normal text with spaces. What causes this? I've seen it a few times reading threads.

Well, it's not a normal block of text. It's something called MathJax.
    Presumably, similar to Latex.

Daaaaaamn....that's a lot of tags. I wonder why someone would use that for just regular text posting?

    Thanks for the answer.

Ever seen what a Word doc looks like behind the curtain?
It's surely generated by some MathJax editor.
    Invisible to the user.
Prob'ly using it to write some special symbols just like Latex.

But I think it's either being used wrong, or there's a bug, cuz it's essentially wrapping each character in its own unique - yet identical - tag.

Aye, that is exactly it - you can either put the dollar sign in italics, or put a slash before it (a slash is the escape character for LaTeX formatting).

As el es above posted, it's the LaTeX formatting - I have gone back and edited that post to correct it
