Since 2015, Republicans’ views of the impact of colleges have turned much more negative

What this means for the future is grim. America basically invented the modern, educated society, leading the way on universal K-12 education, building the world’s finest and most comprehensive higher education system; this in turn was an important factor in how we became leader of the free world. Now a powerful political movement basically wants to make America ignorant again.

Well, I mean, Republicans are aware that their power is reliant upon their base being dumb enough to buy the bullshit they are shoveling... and an educated voter base would be in direct opposition to that. They don't want intelligent, informed voters... they want idiots that believe Faux News at first glance and do as they are told.

Lately, admittedly, I've started feeling the same way about "mainstream" democrats as well...
